Ambassadors needed for PAX East in Boston

Just sent an email, I live less than an hour north of Boston on the Seacoast of NH. Hoping to hear from you guys, I'm an avid gamer and I would love to represent ED at PAX East. (ED the game of course not the medical condition, I may be an older gamer but...)

Just sent the email. I hope I get a chance to show off the game in conjunction with several peripherals including a HOTAS Cougar Throttle Stick (NXT/Hall sensor mod) and MFD's, Simped Vario Pro rudders, TrackIr 5 w/ Track clip Pro, Voice attack w/the ED voice commands and of course Slopey's ED BPC. I can bring my own box with an i7 4790k, 16GB DDR3 1866, GTX 970, 500GB SSD, 2TB HDD. and 3 x 28" 1920x1200 Monitors and display the game @5760x1200. I can demonstrate Hands On Throttle And Stick. All commands and menus can be navigated either through Voice or Throttle and Stick. No need for a keyboard and mouse once in game. (Didn't see one in the cockpit anyway so.......).

While that would be really cool, there are two factors working against you. 1) Space is limited and, 2) All stations should be the same setup as attendees tend to stop the line and want something specific. For example, at PAX South, we had 7 computers set up, with 3 running 1080p and 4 running Oculus Rift. People wanted to hold up the line so they could play on the Rift. They had an option at that point, which was to go to the back of the line, or to the next available computer (which was a 1080p, obviously). Here are a few pics from PAX South.

Our booth before opening where Media, other Exhibitors, Enforcers, and even us Ambassadors could play, assuming there was an open station!

And... the Line. It was roughly a 30 minute wait at this point as we were running people through on about 5 minute intervals.

Bah! I live in Boston but I'm having surgery on March 4th! (Also, if any prospective buyers were to watch me dogfight, they'd probably think the game was, erm, impossibly difficult.

Don't feel bad! They don't actually watch us play, but instead, they play it themselves. And there's a wide variety of players. Some can knock out the Solar Fluke in Basic Combat (the scenario you'll be running) in a minute. Others wind up dying to it. And a rare few make the ending nailbiting (had one where they were both at 2% hull and the Commander had his cockpit blown out so he was firing without the HUD reticule assistance! The Commander won.)

Good luck on your surgery. Will they be giving you a bionic arm to assist with dogfighting skills? :)

I hope that these things do not work against me simply on the basis of my offering them. I certainly do not have to bring the entire setup or any setup at all. I have access to any configuration for the monitor number and size from 22" to 28". I am willing to help in any capacity I can, with or without my Computer, HOTAS and other peripherals. I am more then happy to simply encourage others to try this great game on your equipment or my own and offer assistance where I can. I have no pre requisites for my role or the hardware I bring to bear (if any). That is of course entirely up to Frontier. I would just like to help and attend the show.

Just coming for info: has any one been selected for this event?

Given how the PAX South applications went, the PAX East ambassadors have probably been chosen and Edward is awaiting confirmation from those he extended the offer to before making the announcement. The new ambassadors have to stay quiet til Ed gives the go-ahead. (I think it's his personal test to see how trustworthy we are!) ;)

Thanks Erik for the info. I guess I am not part of the lot then :(

Well I live in Boston, I'm British (not that that matters, unless you want me to make tea!) and I'm old enough to have played the original on my BBC model B, unfortunately I'd only be able to do the 5th and 6th of march - sucks

Just a quick note to let you know that we still haven't chosen the PAX ambassadors yet. We'll get back to you and let you know when we have!

Cheers, and thanks for all your amazing applications - had loads to get through!

Ed

I live in NYC, can easily go. Am 45, a former systems analyst, extremely personable, stupidly amazing at the game and am probably as good a candidate to go as any. No really. But then I would miss play time.

I wish I would have the time. Live in Boston and would love to represent the game. But work gets in the way Thursday/Friday.
But if you guys a spare ticket, i would take it. It seems they are all sold out :-(

I live less than an hour (by car) from Boston. I'd love to be a rep for a few days, but its darn hard for me to be available during the weekdays at the moment. Oh well.. not in the cards it seems.
