Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

Alright, guys, i admit i'm spinning my wheels here.

I'm an explorer, but i am reluctant to leave in case i miss the war starting off.

Selling your exploration data to CSG stations in Lugh will also help.

I like to do a bit of exploration my self & have just set off on a 2kly trip, I plan to be back in Lugh in 2-3 days.

I think that right now could be a good time for you to head out on an expedition while our think tank comes up with the next plan.

Same here. I am doing 1-2 days exploration trips at the moment and deliver the data to CSG stations.

I have to mix things up every now and then or i'd get fed up of the fight in Lugh.

Last time i just fitted my t6 for exploration but this time i just picked up a cheep adder and fitted it out for the job, 28LY isn't the best but i can work with it for the price.

I like exploring as well, but I'm spending a lot of time outside Lugh building reputation with the Federation so I can spend it on getting missions from LFE that I can betray. I must have a trustworthy face. ;)

[sweetly]I can't make you guarantees, sir. You know how difficult it is to get anything through this system these days. But my ship is fast and nimble, and if I can evade the blockades, I will. I'm not asking for an advance, or more money, just an opportunity to fill your contract. Here's a letter or reference from the governor of Zeaex, as you can see, I'm not having any problems where the Federation has things under control... A pleasure doing business with you.[/sweetly]

Hmmm. Will take up exploring after this experiment with trade data. Picked it up near Lugh, gonna drop it off in Eravate.

Also, load-out critiques are welcome.

I am currently 4000ly out with a load of exploration data to drop for the CSG. I'm staying out here until 1.1 goes live otherwise it'll take ages to sell all this data.

A very good exploration guide.

The advantage with cashing in exploration data to CSG stations in Lugh compared to trading might be that we wont trigger another boom state.

That would be nice.

Detailed Surface Scanner
32 Ton Fuel Tank
A5 FSD
C6 Fuel Scoop
A2 Power Plant
D3 Power Distributor
D5 Sensors
D4 Life Support

Heat Sink Launcher (In case i crash into some Binaris after i jump into a new system)

36.89 LYs jump range

PS: Can anyone post current influence and state update in lugh ? I am in deep space right now.

So would you recommend that i sell my Cobra and get a Viper and Hauler and save up for an Asp then?

And on another note... has anyone ever found anything like alien artifacts? Something that would make it worth having a cargo bay?

I think the cobra is also fine for exploring if you fit the best FSD (i think up to 27 LYs), a fuel scoop, advanched and detailed scanner. ASP is luxus if you dont go into some strange star constellations. Or just keep your Cobra and outfit a Hauler.

Never heared about artifacts but i also find the idea of discovering alien artifacts very appealing.

My first few 1000ly trips were taken in a hauler, you can get the jump range over 20lys. Cheaper to fit out if you don't want to wait until you've saved for an ASP. To buy and fully kit out an ASP is somewhere in the region of 15 mill I think. The hauler or adder would be much much cheaper.

Yes if you cant afford you and ASP. My costs me about 15+ millions but i wanted to get me one because i just love this ship. But you are also pretty good equiped for exploration with a hauler, adder or cobra for the first steps in the case you dont like exploring (you wont get rich with it).

This is a usefeull site to test different ships comfigurations.

Although I wish the system provided for war to be incited by force, from Michaels last post it seems it does not and civil war is what we have to strive for. Because LFE are currently in a boom that means they have to end that state before they can enter a war with CSG. This means our current goals are:

1) Damage LFE economically. We must end their boom. So we need to start hatching strategies to do that. One is to accept their missions as Darkfyre repeats quite a bit and then seek to betray these missions. This damages LFE. Another possible source of damage is to destroy their traders but this might only serve to raise lockdown again.

2) We must try to fend off another boom for CSG. Booms are great but we need civil war so for now I suggest we stop trading for CSG for a day or two at least and see how that goes. Keep doing missions for CSG however. This can damage their influence and raise ours and it is important we keep our % high.

3) For now avoid doing missions for non lethal weapons. Our lockdown may be gone but it is still unclear if the 'pending lockdown' is our current lockdown in recession and can spring back (because it is not actually fully gone yet) or instead the pending state means that it has gone into its cooldown period where it cannot engage again for a set period of time.

4) Continuing bounty hunting for the next two days may be a good idea. We may have lost lockdown but tension levels may still be dangerously high. We need to reduce them apparently.

As I say, all this goes against the grain with me and I wish we could spur on the war by increasing aggression instead of reducing it. This mechanic makes no sense to me but we have to work with what we have so lets do it...

Overall i dont have the intention according to this thread to become a discussion about Exploration i only do this because if we keep on trading in Lugh i think we could trigger another boom state for us (CSG) and delivering exploration data would be an alternative way to keep up our influence for CSG. I just had the idea that i/we can support CSG in Lugh also with delivering exploration data to our supporting minor faction with not triggering boom status again as long as LFE beeing still in their boom state and we have no chance to trigger the next civil war with them. Its just a test for me and we will see what happens if more Cmdrs will do the same in the outcome. Important will be that we constantly deliver our exploration data in a minimum after 1-3 days to CSG owned stations in Lugh to see serious results.

But i want to share some experience i made with exploration of unexplored systems the last days.

I would go atleast 400 LYs away from populated systems and start exploration from there (as there are enough unexplored systems left i think).

For me i focus mainly on clas F, G and K Stars as they have the biggest chance to contain earth-like worlds, water worlds and highmetal content planets beeing candidates for terraforming (you get the most credits from them).

O, B and A stars can also be very profitable and interesting but they are more rare then the other Stars.

Overall if you come across a class M star for example and you only discover rocky and icy planets in this system just scan the main star and travell to the next system because they give no profit and are just timeconsuming. Further i would scan gas giants (they can be amonia based and with water based life) if they are not over 5000-10000 Ls away. But i wouldnt go for the moons of the gas giants as its a waste of time except you discover an ineresting one.

Scanning Asteroid Belts is also a waste of time for me.

And be attentive to those double and tripple star systems. You can crash into them while jumping from one to the other system your expedition might be over.

For me this is also a part of the experiment we started in Lugh (and for Lugh) and i would be happy if some of you join me as its also quite fun and interesting to do exploration.

Fly save :)

PS: Hello orfeboy you just posted our Lugh update while i was writing this post. Plz tell me if my intention is ok for you.

I agree with all you have stated but the problem with keep on doing missions is that the most missions if not all increase economic boom in the mission summary.

And there is something i just dont understand. Why is LFE still in a BOOM state ? Are there players working against us ? I dont know...

They control the stations nearest the sun with the markets so that's where most passing trade is done plus all the trading in the background sim too.

Yes that was also always a explanation for me why LFE is getting permanent influence and beeing in permanent boom state as beeing the controlling faction in the system while owning still four stations. But honestly sometimes i didnt trust in the background simulation beeing such complex. Best would be a trade embargo (if that works) but this would lead again to lockdown.

PS: Overall our lockdown state was lasting about three days or so (and was mainly triggered by the missions we did that increased lockdown). So getting in another lockdown for some days to finish of LFEs boom wouldnt be such a mess. Could also be that we are now in a lockdown cooldown and cant trigger a new one.

I think that there's also how a boom finishes earlier if it is "used up", which probably involves doing trade during the boom. If there's less trade going to LFE then it might continue for the standard time whereas we burned through it quicker.
