Brand new ASP, out to kick the tyres and see how much better it is than my trusty Cobra (that was never lost in combat) with a quick Pirate Hunt.
First USS is an Elite Anaconda, right behind me. Before I can turn to face him, BLAM Trusters Destroyed

. Oh well, never used Self Destruct before.

Duration of ASP about 3 mins, paint not even dry

YES - I have insurance, so it really doesnt matter, but jeeeeeeeeeez that ASP is a slug

The stock asp does feel clunky, and I got rid of mine as I could not afford at that time outfit it properly.
I am sure it is a completely different ship with a few A-class modules though.

Not sure. I really think of it as Cobra on steroids. It is a bit slower and less maneuverable, but has higher shields, stronger hull and better weapons. Still my favorite ship - good at everything in a pinch. Flew in it for a while until I got my Clipper. Will re-buy again just because I like it so much. About outfitting - the math is simply not true. To fully A-class outfit the Viper costs about 20 times the base cost. It costs about 5 times the base price to fully outfit the Asp. Should not be much of a problem with 96 ton cargo hold.

I would not have gone against an Elite Anacoonda in a basic Asp. I have mostly A grade outfitting in mine. It is superb against most ships, but does struggle against an Anaconda, normally its just point and blast, but the plan with Anaconda's is different and requires more thought. It also melts clippers easily as well. I use mine for all round trading and Bounty Hunting and is much better than the Cobra, the hardpoints are better located.

I love my asp, but I've been working on outfitting it for exploring not so much for combat. I'll probably stick with my viper for combat... I had a cobra in between, but i absolutely hated the cobra. The asp is a joy to fly compared to the cobra. I've got it fitted with A in just about everything I need, and D in a lot of the areas that are not critical to make it lighter. All that's left to upgrade is my FSD which is only a B5 right now... I have the money , it's just getting over to Shinrarta Dezhri to make the purchase.

also before I head out on a long exploration trip i'll probably drop the 64 ton cargo rack and my A3 fuel scoop and get a class 5 scoop.

I love flying the asp.

heh, plasma ball to the rump. talk about being caught with your pants down

i do like my asp, but i feel more comfortable taking the elite anacondas on in my viper. the asp is just too big to avoid much of the fire. that said i've not taken a plasma ball to the face so as long as you are actually moving you can still dodge those. you'd certainly fair better if you were engaged before it let rip with the plasma ball of death, but even then it think you'd still be a little disappointed with how much punishment it can take. but then, 6 guns of pewpew, mmmmmm

I like my Asp the HERE KITYKITY, she be a fine ship, but i have her parked for now and slowly getting her the bling with my T6. Reason for trading with the T6, insurance and repair costs are a lot lower. If I lose my T6 it is less of a pain in the pocket book. I will eventualy graduate to a T7 and keep the Asp for a very long time.

Just so you know it will cost you aprox 16-17 mio credits to fully upgrade the T 7 to A-kit, and by then the insurence will be just as high as the Aps when the Asp is upgraded too both ships have a value of aprox 33 mio credit when upgraded. I know becaouse I have both of them in that condition now

I wanted to go on a rare commodity long haul today, but on my final approach to Uszaa to pick up the last Uszaian Tree Grubs and fill up my cargo hold, every attempt to enter supercruise takes ages and every attempt to leave supercruise in approach vektor to the station gets me disconnected.

Thnks for the info I kinda had that in mind as I grind away in my T6 TURTLE, and I am ok with that, while most of the CMDRs have their focus on the Anaconda, I am playing the long game. My goal is to put my Ass in a Fer De Lance and wrecking havoc accross the Federation and Empire regions. It should be fun dont you think

Why would he do that? Waste of money! The only thing that needs to be A grade is the Frame Shift Drive.

I had that when I got my cobra. Your fsd and power distributors are under powered.

They aren't. The game just disconnected whenever I wanted to exit supercruise. Server problems, I guess. My Asp has the 5A Power Plant and even with weapons deployed my power draw is 99%.

I also am not in any rush to get to any endgame if there is one ? I actally have a goal to have every kind of ship avalible all A-class upgraded exept for the sidey(The default ship) just to have them and nothing else, but I don't want to just grind credits every time I log in. It also give me an opportunity to do different kinds of playstile with multible ships and I have a backup reserve of credits to spend if I choose to buy a very expensive ship a little too early before I can afford to upgrade it proberly. I don't want to risk buying a type 9 lakon and not being able to leave the system because i cannot afford to upgrade my FSD due to low credits in the bank

Anyway I hope you'll have lots of fun in your long gameplan as I intend to have

What was he flying? I had a Cobra boost-smash into my Clipper. I lost shields and about 10% hull, Cobra was destroyed. Also in earlier days I made the most costly mistake in my then relatively new Asp - collided with a pirate Clipper and about 370k cr of rebuy cost later decided not to do it anymore.
