Newcomer / Intro type 6 overheat

Howdy I just purchased a Type-6 and when I fire up the FSD I get an over temp warning and the temp goes up to 104, is this normal?

yes, perfectly normal. you can reduce the heat by getting a better power distributor and frame shift drive.

Yes actually. The type 6 has run hot in every version of the game. I think it's a 'feature' to give the ship character. i mean it's a bit boring as a ship goes right? so the devs decided to give it a quirk. The heat will not be a problem under normal operation and I think it gets better as you improve some of the components (the FSD in particular I think).

Cool thanks, I upgraded the FSD, power dist and plant took 4 deg off, now it goes to 99-100. One more thing this fat momma is a huge fuel hog, scooping is a must in this pig.

It's actually quite fuel efficient. You will start needing a scoop around Python sized ships. Up to Type-7/Imperial Clipper, it's still more profitable to forgo the scoop for cargo hold.

It's actually the opposite, wait til you see what inefficient really is :)

I switched the power plant in my Type 6 to a 2A and that fixed the overheating. I think it's also lighter, if not the same weight, as the 3D generator, so it's actually better. Unless you're using your's for more than just trading...

Edit: Here's my loadout. Defensive stuff in case I'm pirated, but I've hardly had to use them. Still, just in case... Otherwise, ditch 'em for more cargo space and a 30LY jump.

wait until you get in a T9, jumping 20 Ly will set you back nearly 40k in fuel alone.

Nope. Fuel scoop is entirely situational. Fuel costs worth about as much profit as 1 ton of good trade run. If you are doing short trade routes - do not waste cargo space and time and get another cargo rack. Doing a rare trade run - get a scoop because otherwise you will be wasting time docking at intermediate stations.

What are you trading???? 1 ton? How far are you jumping. 14ly sets me back 42k!
