Few questions about release dates and backing...

Is there any official release date (full game or open beta/gama), or at least month or something? If not, what is probable time of release?
Also, for how long will backing be possible and how long will backing give you rewards like names and ships?

Bonus: I'd like an advice about something - would trader cobra package be a good start for a career of jack-of-all-trades pilot wannabe?

Well the cobra has always been a very versatile ship also in previous games, so i see it being no different in ED. I myself would probably start out with the cobra too

Alpha is the big next stage that we are currently discussing and that begins in December.

The Cobra is a reasonable starting place for an all rounder.

Cobra is a great ship that can turn it's hand to anything. You can trade, bounty hunt or do anything else you would like.

I don't think Frontier have said when (or indeed if) they will stop taking backing for the game.

There is no deadline known ... i think you can back ED until the release

Basic Cobra MkIII is a good place to start if you sign up as a backer, but better would be the Federal Trader pledge level for £37 which gives you a safe-ish start position somewhere in Federal space with C1000 worth of goods in your hold and C1000 hard cash.

If you sign at that level, your gameplay will not be restricted to performing missions for the Federation - it's still the open sandbox, so you can go Alliance, Empire, totally independent or rogue pirate as you desire.

Yes, that's the beauty of it - start ship/location doesn't restrict you particularly.

That said, go Empire. You'll be glad you did.

But I don't have Paypal (or want that) or a credit card. I need some advice. I always use Ideal. Some help highly appreciated!

You can start any location and do what you want until you take a military career and get stuck whit what that faction, truly what is the best faction is yet to be seen since we stil cant compare ships until alpha/beta.

You say at the moment. It's considered to expand at some later date? A mate has Paypal, is it possible he pays for me? I hope you guys will consider Ideal. I think that is used primarily in North-West Europe. It is bog in The Netherlands, Belgium, perhaps Germany and France as well.

I hope there is no problem with paypal in France ... I think about going in alpha

I never been in an alpha stage of a game and I was hoping I could get into this one. I never had so much anticipation for a game. Besides, anything we can do to help improve and balance the game will in the end pay off for ourselves. And all the people who join when it goes live.
