1.1 Trade Impact

I couldn't find anything that stood out to me in the patch notes as far as trade goes, but I could have skipped a line or two.

From those of you that have triumphed over the Trial of the Download or have played beta 1.1, I would like to hear what you have seen different about trading.

I have a pretty good 13300/Ton/Hour trade route with several thousand high/low, and I am hoping that the route is not destroyed. I still have a few hours to wait on this D/L, even at 7MBps.

Supply & demand were turned off for the beta so you'll have to wait till more than a dozen people have finished downloading it and have tried it out. I'm currently getting 0.07MB/s... talk to me tomorrow sometime.

2.5gb we werent warned about this. Surfice to say ive got a connection that should have done this in an hour, but the downloader seems to be speed limited at frontiers end so 10 hours later im still downloading

It's in the patch notes.

Hi everyone,

update 1.1 is incoming at 3pm GMT today. The servers will be down for up to 30 minutes when the update begins. Here is the change log from the last beta build. If you want to see the full list of changes since 1.07 check the links at the bottom of this post.

Download size: 2.5 GB (for 1.1)

Thanks!

Michael

Probably coz a zillion other people (like me) are also trying to get it. Distribution really needs a look at... maybe multiple sites around the world, or torrent servers or something.

yes the impact of donwloading from one server is bad, they are using virtual servers for the actual solar systems so why not for donwload ?

well anyway back to the topic of the thread the impact of trade will probably be dynamic again and open to FD tinkering a lot mroe so things will change.
As far as impact on the metagame well community goals are already showing that FD directed manual single community goals one per day will be the go and not dynamic goals in many systems each day. Just sad. My pand experiment will continue to work on our small goals then instead of bigger goals.

My trade route is gone. Last night, my destination exported Imp Slaves, they are now banned there.

Same here. was making decent profits on a metal trade in a nearby star system and now their sell price went up a grand. trip is not worth it now.

Oh well, I think trade is by far the most lucrative aspect of the game, but extremely boring. Maybe in the future they can add a dynamic profit multiplier in the form of a mini-game (bartering with the seller or buyer) or a random event, (space worms ate holes in your cargo of clothing), or maybe even an unidentified signal source being someone who needs a rescue and in turn gives you favorable prices for your current shipment. I get bored very fast while trading, and it will end up making me not like the game, especially if each patch will make me worry about screwing up the few routes I can make a decent profit on.

All four of my main trade routes are intact. Haven't checked my secondary routes. One has been run down by many players, but the behaviour for the given supply/demand numbers is normal (~1k ships in traffic, ~250kiloton supply). The other three are still sitting between 2.7k - 3kCr/t, and I'm about the only one running them.

Oh, and forgot to add, one station stopped selling imperial slaves, and one stopped buying. There was more than one station selling and buying on that route, so it didn't outright kill the route, and so far I haven't noticed irregularities with other commodities.

My main route actually earns more than it used to. A lot of the players frequenting the area have left. No complaints here. Some of the commodities are returning from Low Supply to Medium. The high supply and demand is stable, though Gold went medium the other night and is back now at High supply.

Look for Wealthy, Very large population systems for more stable routes.
