We deserve an Official answer from David Braben (I dont think he really knows what happened with 1.)

Your misreading the situation. FD doesn't respond to all those hater kiddies because it would be a complete waste of their invaluable time.

I'm really glad FD opted this way and hope, that the little pew pew kiddies will give up and return to COD and EVE soon :)
yeah, cause eve is such a bad design...

i mean, their sim is only running since 12 years and still drawing players in......

but you re right, FD can give them a lesson

please find me another MMO able to sustain a single sim where all player run in the same "instance", and can fight 2000 vs 2000 (or more), since 2003, all this with a player driven economy

I think the plan was always to release 1.1 to live exactly when they did, and to go through beta test reports and fix issues in the weekly hotfix patches.
Not saying that is the best of ideas, but it does appear to be the case.

its funny that i've seen so many people talk about how could they release 1.1 yet this is the most obvious answer lol... 10/10 for such a quick to the point summary of the entire thing.

I enjoy sandbox games and have never played Minecraft.

You should check it out, at least for a little bit. I've never seen a game stay in the top 10 selling list for over a year, Minecraft does. Never known a video game IP to sell for 2.5 billion, Minecraft did. Probably the best PCG game ever, has the least amount of pre-programmed objectives of any game yet keeps drawing people in. The graphics are... probably the lowest quality of any game on the market, yet people keep playing.

It's quite the anomaly.

That is the point, make the devs listen us and make them realize that we need better updates, not only correcting the bugs but adding more content to the game.

So far nothing is good.

I keep hearing more content. Do you really think they are holding your content back to annoy you? And if it would be that way, do you think they would release your precious content just because you told them so?

For those who have fear to loose their T9 and therefore consider the whole game broken... Just park your T9 and jump in another vessel until the bug is fixed. Sounds hardly unplayable to me.

ithis is actually illegal btw....

Which law (UK) do you think they're breaking?

My take, the beta period was rushed this is something they need to take and think long and hard about. I'm guessing from the speed of development they're firm followers of Agile which can work but can also foster a "we get it out and we can get a fix out quickly as well" rather than "get it out right and don't fix". Given the additional code which will come with wings I hope the beta period will be longer, it needs to be.

Do I expect that updates will have bugs, yes. Simply because that's how the game world appears to work (see Warcraft and their regular patches after WoD release).

Are we entitled to a deep response on why the fault got through. No, it's not the implicit contract with FD or part of the terms and conditions[1].
As part of good customer service should they have pushed out a note last night flagging they knew of it, yes. Should they have confirmed as soon as they knew that a HF was in the works, yes. This is all support 101, keep the information flowing, keep it clear, honest (as a TS face never ever ever state something will happen unless you have it signed in blood from someone internally who is responsible & accountable). Never ever get into a discussion in public which is heading to be a _____ing match.

As a business they do need to improve the comms & support side of things and the overall code quality (this is true of most software houses) but they're not significantly worse or better than anyone else in the industry at the moment.

[1] Where I work the customers do have this in their contracts, but they pay serious money.

The entitlement is strong in OP. Let me help you: you don't deserve anything but to participate in the development of a brilliant game that is still in an very early stage. So stop whining, it gets annoying! Otherwise, please go back to your mindless Pew Pew games.

This.
I would love to know where some people get off thinking that FD owe them something. *shakes head*

Disclaimer: I wouldn't love to know, I was speaking rhetorically.

i don't car about UK law, i care about the law that apply, and in such a case, it's the customer's country law that does apply, and for that specific, this one does apply:

Dude, you totally should; it's pretty amazing.

It never really appealed to me. Maybe it was the graphics, I don't know, I just don't think I'd enjoy it. Maybe I'll check it out later.

Based on my experience of thus forum if I don't enjoy it I'll spam the forums whining about how it doesn't do exactly what I want, in the way I want and demand that senior members of staff answer me, give me a refund, rebuild the game to be like another game I play and keep telling people I've uninstalled I and won't be back (while continuing to infest the forums).

After going through the RSS feed I posted above, I've realized that FDev has responded to a lot of the issues. It is just not in one easy to digest location. I would suggest that there be a stickied tracker for all the known issues with 1.1 specifically. On that tracker, we should see the state of the issue (investigation/coding/testing) the priority and the projected implementation. Also, include root cause, the solution and any relevant notes.

Another tracker should contain old issues that still persist after the implementation of 1.1.

I know it sounds like a lot and maybe even kind of risky. However, it is going to be much easier to gain understanding and even sympathy if it is all very transparent. I believe FDev isn't just a bunch of smoke and mirrors, what's to hide?

Not really, but seeing as they have been showing "to be incompetent" in dealing with a simple update, I think good that I keep talking anyway:D

To Op and some other that DEMAND this and that......
Please chill out just while reading my post at least :p

I am not particularly happy with the 1.1 update , the trading or the general lack of things to do in game, but to start DEMANDING this or that...
Come on, FD is doing its best, maybee we dont agree on direction, then voice it in a civil manner, do it again , and again, and again...
Dont DEMAND and expect an answer, I for one if a DEV would disregard it completely.
Istead explain why or what bothers you, put in some humor if you can, it all helps.
In that way we might get a response.

And as stated before I am NOT happy at all right now, not at all, but I am old enough to know that FD do what they can, and sometimes small things can ruin the ride.

I have voiced my opinion, all that feel like can rage on now, whatch your blood pressure though, far too many men die prematurely of idiotic reasons ;)

Cheers (avoid collisions ;)) Cmdr's

People paid cash money. Some more than others. I do believe FD owes them the product as described.

So, what part of the advertising is misleading? Statements "this is beta" don't cut it, let's have some firm examples or start a case against them, though I suspect that the EULA which you agreed to on purchase of the game states that UK law applies.

even if that was the case (didn't checked) this wouldn't hold 3 sec. since it is the customer's country law that deos apply, meaning that such thing would just be considered void.

besides, it doesn't really matter here since EU law apply in both UK an my country anyway.

more info can be found here:

and it's rather clear
