Just finally at lunch time managed to be awarded Baron in the Empire after the necessary rep work....
I'd be intermingling that with trading and slowly was creeping towards 60m Cr in assets ....
Baron mission dropped at lunchtime so i jumped at it and headed straight over to Miphifa to buy my Clipper
So excited ... was able to upgrade most of the stuff to the spec i kinda wanted straight away (nearly anyway)
So took it for a spin .... wow ... love it ... handling is great for a ship this size. The engine sound had even the Asp's beat out ...
Sleek lines, beautiful canopy .... weapon placement... yeah - we know that ain't the best but hey can live with that...
Set course for where i wanted to head next (about 90Ly) and noticed most of the route was dotted (signifying fuel limit)
Came back out .... 1st jump ... estimated to consume about 30% of the tank!!!
On a 17.6Ly jump!!!
So total jump range unloaded is <50Ly
Thats no better than a hauler
Figured the Clipper to be a luxury cruiser capable of a bit of range .... not having to carefully plot each jump to make sure i can scoop at every damn star
Sorry .... selling the clipper.... absolutely gutted .... been looking forward to this ship for ages but i like to cover distance and roam about ....
The luxury and other elements of the clipper are all dashed for me in light of continually penny pinching on fuel
This thing given it can carry easily 160-220t cargo.... yet has a 16t fuel tank.... thats wrong.
So disappointed this thing is no better than a T7 at lugging around
The short jump distance i could tollerate - bit of a faff but not a deal-breaker .... total jump distance is a total ship killer for me
