We deserve an Official answer from David Braben (I dont think he really knows what happened with 1.)

You're just going to swap your ticket on this line for a more expensive hypetrain. Reminds me of the guy who ragequit (and yet still posts), by spending five hundred bucks on SC; kind of like getting earrings for a hooker you met just after leaving your wife.

LOL +rep

The whole gaming industry need to get in line with the rest of the world and start caring about their product and their image and stop considering their customers as their personal guinea pigs to be discarded later because more will come.

I fear there may be some over-reaction going on in this thread. Calling for people to get sacked is a bit heavy handed. Crikey it will be torches and pitch forks in a minute or worse still the ultimate British action....writing a strongly worded letter.
.
Frontier have released another patch today so they are working hard. Yes it's frustrating but it is only a game. My suggestion is if you are getting so wound up about it go and play a different game for a few days and come back to ED.

Never seen a ProjMan or Scrum Master keep his job after repeatedly ignoring the testing. Unless there are other motivations for releasing the software and they were instructed to go ahead. Which makes my already confused mind boggle too much. Either way, you can be assured there is an email somewhere in the works that starts, "Are you aware that....".

They need to scale into a serious org, fast.

Yeah, there is definitely a problem as this isn't the first time we've seen big issues with the released product. I'm just saying that people are assuming what went/is going wrong and need to take a step back and let them sort it out instead of saying "fire the person doing this!" No, this is the part where executive management (David B.) comes in and says "it isn't acceptable, find out how to change for the better and do it"

If they fail that charge (or as you say, scale into a serious org) then yeah, heads be rollin

Agreed, looks like they've had about 6 of their 9 lives judging by the responses today. Fingers crossed they can claw some trust back quickly.

No, it's coming from the 'we've seen game development done right and expect that moving forward' generation. If they took the worst game ever made and slapped the Elite title on it, you 84's would praise it as the best thing ever.

I love Elite and think the game is GREAT. I have never played any of the previous version. Maybe placing individuals into a certain diagrammatic makes you feel more entitled, but it doesn't make you correct.

Then you haven't been in any kind of software development. It's completely normal to decide which are major bugs (crashes/freezes), which are minor bugs (game works but impedes/degrades gameplay in an aspect), and which are bugs that aren't going to be fixed (yet, or at all) because they are not relevant for gameplay/sales.
If you aim to fix all bugs for a patch/bugfix/release this is what happens: you never release. There's always more bugs coming in than you have time to fix, so you prioritize until you have something you feel can be handed out.
You set a quality goal which maybe says: "no major bugs, 5 minor bugs and the number of low priority bugs doesn't even count for the goal"
And sometimes even that is compromised by deadlines (there are monetary considerations to any software project, you know?)

And - gasp - even testers aren't infallible. Sometimes a bug just isn't found during testing.

So then you get a bugfix for a bugfix. It happens more than you think.

While you talk to Sir Braben, i want to speak to Bill Gates about how it's possible that something so negative as this forum is able to show up on my Windows version.

You might have confused Elite 1984 with Elite Dangerous. ;)

Also, 1.1.02 is inroute. Looks like they're fixing 100% of the bugs. This pleases me greatly...

I am so happy you let us know how happy you are. We all was really worried that you wouldn't be.
