Fuel Scooping problems in 1.1

Started running my trade run after the new patch and on my first star I stop to scoop I get in range to where my scoop is pulling in at a optimum rate and I notice my fuel bar is not filling up at all. Normally when I scoop I see the fuel bar get the white flash animation over it to signal that its fueling. I notice each time it would flash for a sec and then nothing. Right now I'm in dock waiting on rare respawn but I will try to take some vid of what is happening.

uploading video to youtube now so I should have it shortly

I have had no problems fuel scooping after patch 1.1 that I know of. My class 5B filled my tank several times during a brief stint of exploration in the neighbourhood.

Fuel scooping is working for me. It looks like you have a small fuel scoop in the vid, and from what I can tell it looks like its working.

The video looked like it was working fine....my HUD looks the same. I've got an A2 scoop and it fills at about the same rate as yours. I just nose into the star and stop when I get to 99% heat and let it fill.

It's working fine but for some reason they changed the animation on the fuel gauge. Instead of it showing constant refueling it 'ticks' every few seconds. Honestly I liked it better the old way.

How unlucky to get interdicted whilst overtemp right next to the star !!
A tip i use is to assume the scoop is under the ship so i sit my belly on the star, if an interdiction is likely then i pull back on the stick at zero speed which puts my tail towards the star. Makes an interdiction next to impossible :)
On the scooping, could it be that it stopped when you reached a critical temp ? Seemed to work to start with then stopped ?

Yeah I meant to edit that out but some pesky NPC tried to catch me with my pants down. Another posted here that they changed the animation of the filling so while it looks like nothing is happening it actually is.

Okay thank you it was just an animation change I was so use to the old one that it looked like the fuel was not filling up my tank.

Nice tactic!

Now I'm curious though: does everyone else just cruise at lowest SC speed on top of the star? I go full throttle around the star, upside down with the canopy pointing at the star.

Check your power supplies are still adequate. If you have a shield cell it nerfs the Asp. I have to turn off 5 other modules to use the shield cell, and no word from FD whether this is a bug or feature

I tried fuel scooping like that but I always get too close to the orbit and I end up pulling myself out of SC. I just tried the method he described and I rather like it, going to use it as my default fuel scooping method.

we are getting a hotfix right now so hopefully it will address the power drain with the shield cells because I had to disable mine completely because if I deployed weps I was screwed with that thing on.

At least you can deploy the scoop. Mine won't even deploy at all post 1.1. So far I've been sucked into 3 stars trying this. Power is feeding to the scoop, no damage, and the right kind of stars - but no matter where I fly it won't deploy. Will try a few more things and then post a ticket

<EDIT> Now isn't that just typical. Attempt number 4 and it deploys at the first opportunity. lol. Back to exploring...

It was filling in the video, all be it slowly.
You can see the bar getting bigger when it is superimposed over the star.
You have a 32 tonne fuel tank and are scooping 75 kgs a second so that is less than a 5th of a percent a second so the bar wont be moving that much

"Titchy fuel scoop" has a place alongside "no insurance" and "no shields."

(Though fuel scoops are expensive things. But you don't need more than a C6 to fill an Asp in reasonable time.)

At 0:45 you can clearly see that some fuel was scooped. The animation of refuelling was made to update not as often as earlier and that's about all that was changed. You still refuel at the indicted speed.

Someone mentioned somewhere that to prevent interdictions, you can start scooping then turn around with your stern facing the star.
Not sure if that helps.

Fuel scooping just looks slow in an Asp. I have a class 3 scoop and that takes about 5 minutes to fill a 32T tank from almost empty. ED shipyard gives you the intake rates for different classes and grades of scoop.

However, I have gotten a bug since 1.1, specifically that my fuel usage meter has disappeared. The bar and the word FUEL are still there, fuel still drains and fills normally, but there's no number saying how much I'm burning per hour. Haven't checked if the latest patch has fixed it though.

Also guys the golden method of fuel scooping is just to fly at the star at until you're approaching 80% of your scoop's maximum intake (that's 80kg/s on a class 3), cut throttle and do precisely nothing until the tank fills. Your ship should peak at around 110% heat then slowly cool down to 99% if you don't move at all. If your ship doesn't vent enough heat and it climbs past 115%, switch off your shield generator and it'll go back down. If you're worried about being interdicted with your ass pointing out from the star, you can turn up to 90 degrees away from the center of the star without losing any scoop efficiency. I've done this on every ship up to Asp size so I can confirm this is as far as you can push them every time, but I can't say the same for anything bigger.

It looks like that's an A2 Fues scoop used in the video. The scooping volume is not that great for exactly that reason. A3 would provide 176kg/s.
