Elite allows me to paste what I've got on clipboard. I've seen this in use as players who interdict me often have a message ready to go "give me 10% of your cargo or die" type of stuff.

The question is, how/can I bind keys to have pre written replys like "stop shooting me jackhole!!! I have 0 cargo"

I scripted some back in early counter strike to make such binds. I wonder if a keyboard with Macro keys would work?

Anyone who has accomplished this please share how ya did it.

A gaming-type keyboard with macro support should easily be able to do this. I use a Microsoft sidewinder type and I think there's even a record function built-in to the keyboard.

If you want to do it without extra hardward you're going to need some kind of third-party app I think as I am not aware of Elite having anything built-in.

Keyboard is an option but last option as it cost $. I saw something about change hud color by editing a file and it made me wonder if there was some scripting that could be done to paste text into chat box.

Thanks for the info I may have to price some keyboards

Voice Attack is another solution for this.

You can configure pre-configured sentences and phrases for the Comms.

You should be able to find some examples of this in this Forum or through the power of Google.

No, it's not free, but thankfully only costs $8, so it's not breaking the bank.

You can download it and run it as a trial for 21 days, so might be worth doing that to see what you think.

It does add more immersion to the game, especially if you add the Elite Dangerous Voice Pack (http://www.elitedangerousvoicepack.com/elite-dangerous/), which is an addition £4.99.

So I feel like I've been under a rock for too long....Voice Attack looks amazing, trying to get it set as I speak. If I can get it working 8 bucks is nothing, wait is that 8 US bucks or 8 UK bucks because £4.99 is like telling me it's gonna cost me a spoonful of grits and half a mule....it's not real money to me ;)

I use VA all the time and knew you could easily get it to open comms. I didn't know you get it to paste text in the comms window though...

Really the best option if you can do this. It's cheap, there's a free trial, it works amazingly well and you can use it for a whole host of other things too.

have yet to find a way to make it paste text (other than what is on the clip board) I'm attempting to have it type each letter of a phrase (still testing)

Ok I'm having my mind blow, i didn't know, it's so amazing. Voice Attack just changed my life, does eveything I wanted and more. Set it to open coms and then just hit the macro record and typed out my message "I hope your just checking out my ass and not trying to interdict me". Now all I have to do is target somone and say "Tailgate" and it sends the person the message. I haven't know excitement like this since last time.....I better not finish that sentence just insert something horribly dirty, mildly cruel, and comply debasing. That said I have macros to make....up up and to my other keyboard.

The pricing for VA is $8 (Bucks) the additional pack that you can by is £4.99 (Pounds Sterling).

VA is very, very good in my opinion and a great cheap add-on for Elite that just adds a lot more to the whole game experience.
