Newcomer / Intro How long did it take you to get your first Anaconda?

Right now, I can only slip in about an hour or two a day to play this. And I love it. I heard trading is the way to go if you want to make money, but even using the best guides, I can only pull in about 500k to 1m at best per hour.

At that rate, I won't be able to afford Annie for another 157 days....

That kind of grinding seems a little extreme. And I'm saying that as a former Destiny player lol

Surely I'm doing something wrong or could be doing it better?

Not sure what you are flying now, but to get cranking, get a hauler, upgrade it and do rares until you can make it to a cobra. Use the cobra in the same way to get an asp. Work rares with the asp until you can afford a type 7. Once you make it to a 7 you can do fine with regular trading. I would always wait to upgrade to the next ship until you can buy it and update several modules at the same time.

For me, the grind wasn't so bad... looked forward to the interdictions to break up the routine. (especially in the Cobra and Asp) I'd say whatever the ship price is, wait until you have almost double that amount for upgrades. And always keep a floor amount of credits for buying commodities and of Course to cover Insurance/rebuy.

To make it any faster, you may have to burn the candle at both ends. Stay up later/get up earlier to squeeze more time/credits.

From T7 up it starts feeling like you'll reach it much quicker.

Got mine over Christmas but I played through Gamma as if there wasn't going to be a wipe :D

Got in the 'Seeking Luxuries' boom before they nerfed it, made a fortune at Tenche, arrived with a Asp left with a Anaconda just under a week. :)

I'll let you know if I ever get one :p
.
More fun to be had dog-fighting than trading endlessly for me, I 'll stick to my Viper and cobra at the minute.

Just to fill in the details, I'm flying a Lakon type 6 and I fill all 104 cargo slots when I run my routes. If there a better way to do this, I am all ear!!

Currently trading resonating separators and beryllium between two stations. Pulling around 130k per trip both ways.

No where near and I don't expect to be for months if ever. Actually thinking of dropping down to an Eagle or Sidewinder for a bit.

My aim is to have fun doing whatever I'm doing in whatever I'm doing it in. I have no timetable to get to a certain ship within a certain timescale. I don't care what my cr/h rate is.

Currently in an ASP. Might get a Clipper, or see what new ships we get, but I doubt I will ever have the money for a Conda. Just dont seem able to find those profitable trade routes so do Missions and stuff like that with the odd Rares run every now and then.

Worked up to the T7, and after a few hours of playing in that, I was ready to quit the game forever. So, I sold it and bought another Asp and now I'm loving the game again.

I've been thinking about this and I realized I have no interest in obtaining an Anaconda. I'll stick with my Viper as I've had a lot of fun dog fighting and bounty hunting. All of my credits, apart from some minor exploration, are from that - I don't have an ounce of trading experience.

If it takes me 5 years to get enough credits to buy an Anaconda, so be it. I'm in no rush and even if I had the credits, I don't think I'd buy it.

Have no particular or hurry, or need to get an Anaconda. Currently flying an Asp worth about 30 million that do most things really well. Not even considering selling it. On the bright side, my Asp is now upgraded to capacity, so no more millions vanish into upgrading the flying pancake.

A few million more, and I'll probably trade in my Type 6 for a Type 7. Unless I somehow manage to scrape together enough patience and credits to get the Imp Clipper.

After that? No particular goal set. I do have my eyes on a Python - but that is easily 70-80 million to buy and get basic upgrades for. Or roughly translated: Not in my immediate future.

This is just me, and I don't mean to sound like I'm having a go at anyone, but I don't really see the point in using online trade routes to exploit the game to quickly boost your way up to an Anaconda. I don't think that is fun. Put it another way. What does a person do after they have an Anaconda? I'd worry about boredom setting in if there is no more grind left. There's much more to do in the game than grind for an Anaconda.

Me, I prefer to do a bit of this and a bit of that. Go somewhere on a whim because it has a fancy name, fly off and find a story.

I'm currently in a bit of dilemma with the game though and have no home where I feel comfortable. I've 3m credits so about a third of the way to the amount of money I need for my next milestone (getting an Asp, and kitting it out for exploration). But what I'm really looking for is a new home outside of Potriti because I don't want to be based at the starting location(s). So I'm busy saving my credits and looking for a new home while a search for stories in my spare time.

Elite is a long-haul game which should hopefully improve over the course of 2015. I'm not looking for a quick buck but something I can come back to for many years.
