The reason why I have played less Elite is.. all the waiting all the time

yeh, know how ya feel.
I hate driving, waiting at fuel pumps, waiting at crossroads, traffic lights, wife shopping, people crossing road.
Wish i had an instantly transportable car.

Also waiting to reload in BF4, COD, waiting to build in Sim City, even games waiting to load or download.
Waiting hours to build a factory in X-rebirth, no wonder that failed.

Why is there no game yet that loads instantly and then go straight to the end. completed just like that.
Yeh, waitings a right pain.

I have a theory as to why the so-called "blast door" is there, and it's nothing to do with realism at all (as technically it's in the wrong place, it should be behind the ship - but then we wouldn't be able to see it in action).

It's everything to do with giving enough time for the game client's 'RNG' (as people summarize it), to generate NPC's to simulate ships docking/undocking from the station.

There we go - I have now ruined your immersion forever ;)

If I hadn't heard StationSec lighting up evil vicious NPC parking violators in the main hangar above me while I'm down in the bay, every session for the last 5 months, I could almost believe that. :D

Wow yes you have a point! Well played, sir :)

BUT! What if.... those noises were just added in placeholders just to fool you and I? 0.o

;)

that I have gotten tired of all the waiting and monotomeus sequences in the game.

Waiting in starport turning on landing pad and decsending in garage. Why cant we access station menu while this sequence is running?
Waiting to get up to Surface again. Waiting for blast wall to be lowered.
Waiting to get out of mass lock till SS
Waiting 4 sec or more to enter SS and HS
Waiting in HS to load instance
Arriving at Star, waiting to turn ship around to avoid melting.
Waiting at SS exit to load Starport, nav Point etc
Waiting in SS travelling to reach dest. This can be huge waiting

There is far too much waiting and dead time. This shouls be slimlined more.
Imaging pressing HS and 2 sec later you are in a new system NOT facing the bloody star.

And lets not talk about all the waiting in missions USS...oh my.

Is this your first SIM genre game? I think alot of players bought the game without reading what type of game it really is.

SO what sort of game is it are you suggesting? A waiting around game?
Nothing wrong with the OP stating that he finds some of the waiting around excessive..

Ah quit that "it is a sim" already. Elite is fiction, so it can not be a simulation per defintionem.

Pedantry doesn't change what kind of primary gameplay concept this is.

Elite is pushing an Experience-driven game. Part of the experience is actually operating your vessel like you're in it. "Sim" doesn't fit in the pedantic usage of it, but it's more accurate than other monikers.

Not what I mean. There must be ways to slim line the game. You are very exagerating :)

and "you" are very impatient.

Do you drive a motor vehicle.
When you stop at a stop light do you wait patiently for it to change to green or complain about how long it is taking to change.
It is part of the game. Always has been. Wont change. Get used to it.

Exactly. I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand. There is a vast middle ground between "super realistic simulation" and "arcade game". And in this case it's about adding the kind of details that make it feel real. If you think it should be all Top Gun action, then you've never seen how much prep time goes into a fighter jet's launch. This is just tipping the hat to the fact that you still need to get on the launch pad, be cleared and take off.

Those touches, all of them, make the experience worthwhile.

monotonous.. anyway...

Waiting in starport turning on landing pad and decsending in garage. Why cant we access station menu while this sequence is running?

Because you haven't docked yet - no dock, no access to their system!

Waiting to get up to Surface again. Waiting for blast wall to be lowered.

Because it's in the way and you wouldn't like to hit it.

Waiting to get out of mass lock till SS

Yeah, because those stations are just too big!!

Waiting 4 sec or more to enter SS and HS

The drive has to charge you know - I guess you want insta-warp?

Waiting in HS to load instance

Actually since, Gamma, I've never had anything like this.

Arriving at Star, waiting to turn ship around to avoid melting.

Try throttling down while you're "Waiting in HS to load instance".

Waiting at SS exit to load Starport, nav Point etc

Again, been pretty much instant since v1 launch.

Waiting in SS travelling to reach dest. This can be huge waiting

That's not waiting - that's flying....

Imaging pressing HS and 2 sec later you are in a new system NOT facing the bloody star.

Actually, that's how it might have been originally - just pointless jumps to specific point of interests. I'd suggest the solution, which was lobbied for by the DDF, is far superior.

Toodles!

I only play Elite Dangerous with my Oculus Rift, I find you can micro-nap effectively while waiting on these processes, especially in supercruise...

Just dont try to micro-nap, at 4am, while trying to dock.. very bad...

I lost count of the number of times I dozed off travelling in EvE :)
The dulcet tones of EvE radio didn't help much

It is unfortunate that you feel like this, but I really enjoy these small things of the games, since there are way too many games out there where you can get instant gratification, and for me most of those games just feel pointless.
Immersion is the small semi realistic things in games, adding to the flavor of the game and my enjoyment. But I will gladly agree that now a days the amount of people wanting instant gratification is a much larger crowd then those that get gratification from more complicated and longer games. It is unfortunate, but I have to say that this doesn't mean Elite should change to fit that crowd, and I hope you understand and can accept that there are a lot of people that enjoy the game and everything about it even if you don't.

None of these, not a single one is a problem for me. On the contrary!
Cutting away all these moment will strangle the game and turn it into a meaningless instant gratification skeleton.

I would like the option to be able to launch without doing the about turn. I'm quite capable of doing a backflip off the pad.

I have a crappy little laptop and a ok internet connection... My game sometimes takes a few seconds to load the next instance out of SC or HJ but nothing ridiculous. If your game is really taking extra long to load, you need to upgrade something :D

Same I think it's silly that the pad has to turn my ship around when it would take less time to just undock and backflip as you say :D

I really like all those things, I even got upset when they speed up the undocking turn. It no longer feels "heavy".

So many games these days are trying to shove constant stimulation at you, it gets tired. I was replaying Baldur's Gate yet again on my laptop while the wife was playing Dragon Age Inquistion. In Baldur's gate I could have a entire branching converstion with a random street NPC and it takes 10 minutes just to walk accross one map. In Inquistion there was flashy effects, Wizards spinning there sticks arround - it was chalk and cheese.

I prefer slower more considered games, ED need a lot of work before it can become worthy of its legacy. But don't twitch it up, there's already plenty of games of the market to satisfy that style of game play.

Much of what you say here applies to what I want from my women....I will let you decide which bits
