First post and actually still installing. Quite excited as I played Elite when it was still shiny and new! So hi all!

looks like I download it ? Digital download?? rather than buy it elsewhere and get it as a CD/dvd in a box??
its the official site I think so that means its safe which is good...but do I just buy it & it downloads onto my PC???
never done that before for a game:eek:
hope my pc specs are ok to play the game on. will look elsewhere to find out as I know they are not as good as most peoples computers

You cannot buy a DVD version of the game anywhere other than on the official site/store... (I have ordered it 2month ago and have not yet recieved it from them) But once you purchsed the game you can download unlimited from there... And also you can read about the hardware specs. at the site under "Game support" or read it here :

[h=4]What are the minimum system requirements for the game?[/h] Elite: Dangerous will be available on Windows PC and, three months later, on Apple Macintosh computers.
The Alpha build is available only on Windows. You will be able to download the released game on Windows and/or Macintosh computers once it is available, at no extra charge.
Development of the game is ongoing, and so recommended specifications are currently only available for the Alpha builds.
Minimum recommended hardware specification:
Direct X 11
Quad Core CPU ( 4 x 2Ghz is a reasonable minimum)
2 GB System RAM (more is always better)
DX 10 hardware GPU with 1GB video RAM
Internet connection
Supported Operating Systems:
Windows 7.x
Windows 8.x
For the final game the minimum hardware specifications may be lower as further code optimisations are completed.

Thanx for all that.
Will check out that guide about the specs as mine aren't quite that in all areas I don't think.
And so looks like I buy DVD on official site, which be posted to me...but I also get to download it..whatever it is!..straight onto my pc etc
