Phantom switches on Saitek X-55

Anyone getting the Phantom switches on the Saitek X-55 again? Mine has been working fine up until today's patch. Now I'm getting random switching, like cargo scoop deployed as I'm landing or boost as I'm entering the station. Thank goodness that Orca ship was in front of me.

I've tried rebooting, re calibrating, I'm gonna try switching usb ports again. See if that clears it. It's a little nerve racking with a ship full of rares to suddenly boost in a station without your hand on the controls. :(

I played for a couple of hours after 1.1.03 hit. No issues with the phantom switches, but then ive removed anything docking sensitive from the metal flicks since the first cargo incident.

Concerning about boost, do you have it mapped to the little red thumb button on the right of the thrust handle?

Yes, that is were it's mapped, but when it boosted, I didn't have my hand on the throttle at the time. Same with the cargo scoop going down suddenly.

Just to feed back, I have played 4-5hrs since 1.1 and it seems fine... but

Saying that, something has been changed. In my config I needed to change some mode switch key binds (combo buttons) as the underlying keys would now register and fire as well as the combo (not ideal). Not a big deal but did need a bit of shuffling. Also they added the Sensor Panel Zoom Axis so maybe something was inadvertently changed when that was added?

Good to know. I haven't logged in since right before the .1 patch dropped. I'm waiting till they get it cleared up. I have only had ghosting issues once with my X55, and that was specifically cause I was rearranging cables, and plugged the throttle into a 2.0 outlet. Oops. Yea, having your cargo dumped while you are suddenly boosting away with FA flipping on and off is a bit nerve wracking! Definitely don't want to experience that inside a station...

Oh dear. Ill be checking my powered usbs first thing tomorrow night then!

Dont know if you have already, but i lost the x55 software. Keep the drivers, but let the game set the mappings itself through the controls settings.

Buy a external powered usb 3 hub. they are fairly cheep and worth it.
This will solve your problem, it did it for me. I do recommend you to remap boost to your keyboard if you intend to continue flying without a usb hub, or you will end up like me a month ago, when i lost my type 7 with cargo and no insurance. (damn wall)
i was 50 meter from the landing pad.

off topic:
its a shame they killed off Mara Jade in the EU, and even more that they ruined Vestara khai that was imo a the best new character to come in years.
Lets hope some of it carry over into future star wars.

I had the same issuse with my x55, after two days and alot of googling it turns out the throttle portion requiers ~500mamps(the max output of a onboard usb2.0 hub) and when it exceeds that with will start sending phantom signals as you discribed. Nothing like cargo scoop deploying and going silent running while in a dogfight...

Anyway the only fix I know of as even after moving the throttle to its own on board USB2.0 hub so it got all 500 mamps, was to move it to USB3.0 and no longer have issuses with it. A externaly powered USB2.0 may also be a valid fix, I dont have one but in theory as long as it provides enough power it should work.
But yeah, its a pure power problem, I mean look at it, its HUGE! Also grats on the x55, worth every penny.

I've re plugged my throttle into another port (I have 10 usb ports on the back of my motherboard). So far it seems to be working after 8 jumps and a landing. I drop my gear as I'm about to enter the station to prevent boost.

Yes I'm so bummed they did that too poor Mara.:( She's the best!

Pretty much what everyone is saying, buy a powered USB hub.

I had the same issue with my x55, boosted into the station a few times in a cobra and in an ASP.
Got a powered USB hub that runs 500ma per port, and since then, no ghosting keys whatsoever.
People say it is a USB driver issue, others say it is a power issue. I would think it could be both, but since getting the hub, everything has been peachy.

Great info, Thank you!

It's stable now that it's plugged into it's own USB and the stick is plugged into a different one lower on the mother board. In the future I will have to buy a USB powered hub.
