Yembo traders are in danger ! Bounty hunters, assemble ! bring your vids !... (lots of money here)

Another good fight Poy, Skafsgaard is much better equipped for combat than Tigga, can't win them all.

And he he fly's with FA off all the time.

thats the guy i was talking about... shame i missed the fight damnit

poy woulda done it better if you had un targeted the gimbals

i think

Yup, he is streaming now, but don't snipe him he gets very upset over that.

Another pretty nice guy, one of the best pilots I have seen in the game.

Great fight and a big thanks to all cmdr's who provide trader protection...
Small thanks to the pirates for keeping the game interesting. :)

btw we need some device that can send an emergancy signal....
A device like this would be fantastic. I can imagine bigger player battles can develop this way with a couple of cmdr going after the pirate.
The possibility you can attract other pirates this way would add to the experience... :)

I have to admit I had some pulse pounding moments in Yembo and its surrounding systems. Got interdicted with a load of palladium and silver in my Lakon Type 6 (only armed with burst turrets). Tried to run, but I was in a panic and didn't assess the situation properly, trying to figure out what ship he had, what my odds of escape were, etc (or taking his bloody name for later reference). All I knew was that despite constant boosting with all power to engines I wasn't escaping and the FSD charge was so slow I couldn't be sure I could escape before he turned me to mulch. I'm new to the Lakon 6 and for all I know it's made of tissue paper.

He scanned me, demanded my Palladium (10 tons). Let me keep my silver (50 tons) and wished me a safe journey. Hell, this being my first live pirate encounter I even abandoned the cargo rather than just jettisoning it as a tip of the hat for a well played moment.

Later on, in a nearby system, I was hailed by a CMDR while in Supercruise. My response "Please don't mug me!" I suspect that got a chuckle from him because he told me he was a bounty hunter and wondering about the situation in Yembo. I told him what happened to me and he replied "Ah, c'est la vie. I'll try to avenge your lost cargo".

Before I closed for the night I had another interdiction attempt, but this time I managed to evade it, which made for an intense moment, because I had palladium again. I'm trying to save up to kit out my Lakon 6 for deep space exploration, so those kind of hits really hurt (an A4 FSD isn't cheap!)

Basically, in short I had a great night with actual player interaction and no douchebags to be seen (other than the inherent douchiness of being a pirate, but hey, it's part of the game ;) )

Great example cmdr Mossfoot. I had some similar encounters with pirates and a cmdr coming to the rescue. Best experience in elite to date.
Open play is the way to go if you don't wanna fall into the grind trap.
I can only imagine the wings update will make things better and further development of community goals of course.

I agree. With wings, someone who wants to be a dedicated trader can team up with a dedicated bounty hunter for protection - thus allowing the trader to refocus their layout on profit and letting the bounty hunter (hopefully) do the hard pew-pew work ;) Could be brilliant :D

Yeah, Skaf's got a bit more of a hardened combat loadout than me, but has to head back home more often to sell as he runs less cargo space. He's also probably a better pilot...

This particular one I shouldn't have fought! Cancelled the full FSD charge with fractions of a second to go right at the start.

Good fight I was watching Tigga's stream when this happened, props to both combatants good show!!

He was wondering what took his shield down so fast about half way into the fight, it was that point blank double cannon shot.
While the cannons finished the damage, the majority was done by the lasers. Annoyingly, watching back over my video of the encounter, I notice that the lasers didn't render on my screen. I didn't know I was being hit and so didn't pop chaff, and didn't know that my shields were disappearing, so the sudden shield loss was very suprising.

I don't know how differently the encounter would have gone had I spotted the shield damage, but I'm going to keep an eye out for that one in the future, and tweak my graphics settings in the hopes that avoids it.

Pirates assemble - we must do our part to stop the construction of this deathstar!
Fear not these bountyhunters - although they are many and working in groups, jumping in on your wakes and keeping you busy while the T7 runs away, they are no real threat if we keep 4 pips to our shields!

Even this CMDR Poy in his shiny, heavily armored Imperial Clipper can be dealt with - I mean, all gimballed? I can but laugh! Bountyhunters must be those commanders who can't manage the tough and unforgiving life of the pirate. ;)

Jokes aside, though - it was a great fight, probably one of the most exciting ones I've had in a while. :)

Here's my POV, I'm just off after a long stream from Yembo where I've been pirating the way that I believe is the only proper way - state your demands, and attempt to beat your victim into submission if he refuses to comply. Still not complying? Kill his drives and spill his cargo! Don't judge all pirates on how some of these griefing kids has been treating player traders like actual virtual piñatas, they're not real pirates, they're griefers hiding behind the pirate brand.

In hindsight, I should have ran but... heh, I like to end a fight that I have even a slight chance of winning :p
I didn't realise it was a battle of attrition, if I had anything bigger than light alloy, I had a chance to at least get your shield down :D
I'm still around Yembo foolishly having fun at the expense of money :)

I did throw a fist at my desk afterwards but it was not from anger but rather to calm down from the excitement !

Oh also, all gimballed with the Clipper is really hard to get around, I tried with one fixed beam but I can't get used to the asymmetrism of the build D:

I'm glad you had fun commander, I'd be sure to act more intelligently next time !

Good job Skafs! I need to get me some cannons - you went through his shields damn quick, and they worked pretty good against the hull. @Poy - did you have 4 in shields?

Interestingly you ran out of chaff right at the end, though you didn't start with a full load. I think that battle was a little closer to ending the other way than it looked.

@Poy
I feel you on that - sometimes even if it's lost I won't be running....my pride just can't handle it, and I love the challenge too much.
Am really surprised you only had Lightweight Alloys on that - seemed to tank it like a beast! Might've felt a lot longer than it was now that I watch it back actually...I knew I was quickly running out of time, and getting your shields early I had to take advantage of it with power to SYS and WEP rather than dodgy flying, and just tank your dmg with my shields (or rather; shield cells).

But the amount of bountyhunters at Yembo is nuts, I gotta admit. 3 times in a row I interdicted a T7 and was chatting with him - just about to get him to abandon 20-40t for me as multiple ships jumped in and attacked me. On one occasion they started attacking the trader, who I then ended up protecting cause that was my T7 - hands off kid, go find your own! Probably one of the most surprising and exciting player interactions I've had so far, tbh. Just wish the trader hadn't taken his chance to run off - or at least said thanks to me for fighting off the Cobra + ASP trying to bash him in.

Eventually had to dock my ASP and jump in a Viper as the expense on repairs was just too much for a poor pirate like me. :(

Asymmetic setups are hard to get used to, I agree - but could very well be worth it on the clipper! Not that I can say, really..I can't afford that beaut.
Either way, sweet fearless flying! First time I've felt threatened by a Clipper!

@Tigga
Thx Tigga! The cannons are quite good - I've been saying that for a while now, but no one ever believes me. ^^ More burst than m-cannons, and higher dmg to hull and subtargets. And if your opponent uses chaff, then you have a shotgun instead. ;)

Nice video.

The bounty awarded for your troubles though showed up as 48K on the vid .. did you finish the KWS ?

The KWS did not finish but I still got to see how naughty Tigga had been, ~3.3M in bounties scattered around rare locations (odd I know :D )

Clipper "vs" Viper

Ewww this guy never tried to shoot back, can a Viper have some chances against a Clipper? I just starting to take a look at ED pvp.

Probably not, I didn't record that one though :D

If they try to fight back, yes...

Hey Poy, I had seen you quite often patrolling Yambo in your Clipper. I was delivering Palladium in my T9 most of yesterday, that was until a cmdr in a Python pulled me out of SC and immediately started opening fire! :/ Decided enough is enough, lost 11 mill to insurance and cargo. Bought an Anaconda, sticking with this beast from now on, great ship :) Hauling 448T and armed to the teeth! Will be looking for that Python today ;)
