Make some Gods FD

So personally i have had no issues with mentalists in game i am noticing a lot of complaints about hacking and i think while some of those will be legit players many are doing strange things. Sitting around ststions abusing game mechanics for their own bizarre kicks. By hacking i also mean exploiting flaws. Which to me is basic cheating (not hacking code)

While i would love these people to get help i think they are a lost cause but i think i have a simple solution.

Why not make some gods. Just like moderators on the forum they could have the power to ban etc. They would not show as gods. (Too obvious) but could zoom to any populated system. They can be contacted on comms by everyone and called to a system.

So you see someone "hacking" you call in a god. They jump in. Have a look then BANG insta destroy the culprit then ban for 1 week. Next time 1 month. Next time 3 month.

Of course they need training more than forum moderators as we know they get things wrong often. N ano one cares about a forum warning so much when its wrong. But in game its different. with some training they could see hacking. Or maybe make them work in teams of 2 and come to an agreement on the situation?

So Gods of elite. Game Obstructionists Destruction Service.

i got the bones of this idea from the "met my first hacker" thread.

Not a bad idea, may be Elite Pilots when we have some with a little more programming in their weapons to destroy an indestructible exploited ship.
At least an idea worth looking at.

This sounds like when I was a GM in Ultima Online years ago hehe
But not a bad idea, everyone will be queing to be a god, I want pew pew power !!

Any video evidence of hacked clients? Indestructible ships, unlimited ammo, etc. In testing I've been able to replicate most things that have lead to accusations of hacking with in-game mechanics. Haven't encountered anything I can confirm, or strongly suspect, was hacked (save for some random glitches which initially looked suspicious).

why not have some unbeatable police, like CONCORD in EVE? Where they insta-gib you if you do some sort of severe crime.
Or they should just patrol stations, instead those useless feds.

How about fixing the exploits? These guys aren't "cheating" you know.

I know there is a strange mindset amongst pc gamers of "i can do it so its not cheating, and i will continue until its fixed."

Its sad but it seems to exist in a small percentage. I for one dont want a game dictated by idiots where the stations become 2 second killing machines or you insta explode just because some sad lad with tok much time on his hands found the blind spot.

They fix it they WILL have the time to find another blind spot etc. Lets get it clear. Its not the fault of the game producers.

If i play football with you i could pick the ball up and run with it to the goal and throw it in. There is no referee.

Now a small child probably would do it,but as an adult we know its not cool. Its not fun. N its a bit pointless. The child will feel big tho. So....

Do we

a) not let the child play football
b) hire premier league refs for our grass fun Football
c) get a friend to ref

I like a. But im sugesting c. B if elite can afford it :p

Ur suggesting we tie his hands up. What do you think he will do next?

Yes i shoild have made clear a lot of it is exploiting. Which to me is just as bad as hacking and is taking advantage of game flaws.

Aren't FD supposed to be doing this already, themselves? The "policing" the game bit I mean. If they aren't or aren't able then yes, they need to do this ASAP or something a hell of a lot more than what's currently being done.

not a good idea i can see alot of problems arising from that.
i really see it as FDs problem to fix

I agree, it is FD's problem to fix, just as soon as the game is fixed, and the support "system" is fixed and the Kickstarter rewards are fixed and the rest of the things missing from the game is fixed and....well....by the time everything that needs to be fixed so they can get on with starting to "fix" all the cheating gets fixed we'll all be exploring the galaxy for real.

Maybe someday everything will be "fixed" and by that time FD can start fixing the hackers and cheaters but, we'd all better have a supper upgraded life support system installed because if we hold our breath for this to be "fixed" anytime soon we'd find ourselves at the insurance screen.

With ultimate power comes ultimate responsibility. Sadly I can't see any player worth his salt for that in-game. Fine with the concept but it should rest with FD in the short/ medium term until the game is at least 12 months old after release and things have matured.

Fixed for you

;)

This reminds me of the GM's in Ultima Online.

If anyone is as old as me and played it, I will be happy.

Nah you are just a kid, come to Grand daddy and let me wipe your tears.
almost 60

Its like having DMs/GMs in RPGs. It could work. Not sure its a good idea.

How do they select who to trust with this responsibility? What happens when the reports start coming in from disgruntled players that they were unfairly dealt with by one of these "gods"? Trust me, i've been an admin on an online world, we regularly get complaints from players who say they were unfairly dealt with by a DM. Fortunately, screenshots and chat logs come to save the day in most cases, but it still adds administrative overheard.

Its probably best if players who suspect cheating just use the existing in-game report a player mechanic.

This has been talked about during the DDF - IMO only FD staff could be GMs, but you could have volunteers who join a scheme that allows users to send messages to a support channel group (they can only see the volunteers & their own text, so it can't be abused ;)) and volunteers offer advice and suggestions for players - like how to dock, or explain what things do (like a basic customer support programme - if there are game issues that they can't resolve they can at least direct the players to the ticket system)

Lol, if the devs fix it properly there would no longer be a blind spot to find or exploit. The fault does lie with the devs.

But a CMDr that is causing a lot of aggro should become the target of high paying assassination rmissions.

"Hey, I ran into that crazy terrorist, CMDR Anaconda Idiot! He was shooting up Dalton Gateway in LHS 3447! I barely escaped with my life!"
