Its aa real thing to apologize , even on the nets, It actually ads to character and makes you a Whole person. You have also osted some very good an imo valid comments concerning the game to be fair, and when one cares for something , one can sometimes be rather biased. I tend to at least.
Some of the harshest critics in these forums are in fact some of the staunchest supporters.... Now why is that..?
I think it is because they in a way share the vision that DB had about making Elite (and prolly played the original game) and have waited and waited..and waited. Now the successor is here and it must not fail.
I have played my share of games and have forgotten them just as quickly again, just 2 stand out : Elite and Lotro (until after Mines of Moria) one game because of its free universe, the othe because of its original Lore and community and togetherness and story.
So OP its not wrong to care

And he's getting plenty of acceptance - but this won't deter him from doing the same again, here or in some other walk of life. Again, I simply use OP as a convenient example - but it's a shameful modern epidemic to first act without consideration, then expect a trite apology to wipe the slate clean.

I'm clearly in the minority, but I don't blindly accept apologies for deliberate indiscretions that should never have occurred in the first place.

ED is far from perfect at this stage - it desperately needs gameplay content. I've expressed this opinion myself - and yes, people have every right to express their own opinions either way. But these views can be presented without hostility, and without similar threads being deliberately repeated ad nauseam, to the detriment of the forum.

OP has accepted this is what he did, and has apologised. Since he can't now do anything to rectify his misbehaviour, I'm simply satisfied he's not doing it any more - but I also consider a devil's advocate argument that endorses responsibility and consequence, is a point worth making. Alas, it's also a point most likely to be lost on those who lead lives coddled away from any need to face genuine consequence.

I concede that due to the existing fanbase and high initial ratings, I suspect Elite may technically have made more sales than it actually deserved at release. Selfishly, as a dedicated player I consider this to be a good thing. Others may not.

I've done my share of both criticising and praising the game, I've been called a carebear, a troll, and worse, and I've had over 500 people rep me and many more thank me in various threads for helping them and supporting them. If I've taken anything away from all this it's that you can't please all the people all the time. Nice that you've recognised when you've gone too far in one direction though... I'll rep you for that.

It takes a big person to admit when they were wrong, and to take responsibility for their words or actions. Devil's Refugee has done just this, it's not an easy thing to do, so regardless of the past, it should be graciously accepted, since there's been no evidence that he/she is being insincere. If he reverts and continues down the path previously followed, it would be a hollow apology, but again, there's no evidence of this, so accept it and move on.
That's my take on it. I have my doubts but give him credit until he goes back to the pointless posts that add nothing.
I take the rough with the smooth. And actions over time will speak louder than words, so I don't need to prove myself in people's eye for acceptance. If I want to comment or create a discussion thread I won't be afraid to do so no matter lingering opinion of me, but I will make sure that there is a valid point to it and it'll add some value rather than the negativity of late. Except the cat posts. And the love boat theme. I don't apologise for that.
