Not at the moment. No.

Hopefully this is something they are looking into.

Thanks. I like to explore and it would be extremely helpful to know where I've been. Would be great if the galactic map would mark where you have been as well.

It is possible. You need to set Verbose Logging in one of your config files, so you can record each system you visit. I think there are various user-written apps around which people have written to extract the data. I use this one: http://firstgreatexpedition.org/mybb/showthread.php?tid=1406
