I am leaving!

Sure, I will get out there eventually, only about 150 LY's away and already systems that have not been scanned, and I am in a Cobra so pretty much can deal with anything - it even makes it more interesting for me, however I do not like the fact that three NPC's in a row have no bounty.

Perhaps it is just bad luck.

Yes, I was thinking hull itself, the one that shows in the main HUD. Does it not reduce with the travel though, just "wear and tear"?

If so, then one can travel for quite a while as long as you take care not to overheat, btw - which thread about the edge, as there are many threads going around every hour?

So let's say you buy a new ship and the cockpit says hull is 100%. You go travelling around the stars for a week and return to a station. Your hull still says 100%, but your ship, as a whole, isn't as structurely sound as when you left - bulkheads have been strained, coolant has leaked etc - this side of things is covered by 'wear & tear', and is visible only in the repair screen. It is a modifier to your hull strength, and can negate up to 30% of your hull strength. So, a new ship really does have hull of 100%', but a ship with max wear & tear may say it still has 100% hull, but actually has at worst, 100% of 70% hull strength.
So, you should periodically pay to repair wear & tear, if, and only if, you foresee a time when your shields might be breached, and you could need that extra 30% hull strength.
When selling your ship, don't pay for wear & tear repairs, it doesn't add value to the sale, so you could let w&t max out, and it doesn't matter. I think it's a hidden and unnecessary mechanic, but FD want it, so hey. In the grand scheme of things, it makes no difference to life out there, providing your shields never fail or let heat level raise enough to damage your hull.

For actual links to Michael explaining all this, I don't have them to hand but it's not to hard to dig up. One last thing, I think, ship paint job getting older/chipped isn't implemented yet, which is the only side of w&t I care for.

Interdicted 3x while tagging a single system.

I don't mind it that much, as I am armed, but all three times by clean NPC's, even a clean Anaconda, which is kind of pointless, as there are no credits to be earned.

Anarchy System?

You have to use a KWS to find their bounty info and get the creds.

Just keep going further out, less interdicks in the middle of nowhere.

Did you kill Warrent scan them, they probably had bounties from other systems .. They will show up as clean unless the bounty is from the current system.

be careful coming back, I read in another post earlier someone coming back after 2 weeks exploring and getting interdicted and blown up by well equipped and aggressive AI npc ---he was pretty bummed out ==lost all his data

This is a good point, you won't be expecting to get jumped and won't be combat ready as it were.

Tx, that was an interesting video. Right now on the edge of our spiral arm, nothing weird yet. Most systems explored already as well. Got a few on the way, but as I am getting to the edge, it seems that some OCD commanders made a clear sweep of the area already.

The inhibited space, and finally going for some exploration.

Did a bit of it early on, and apparently even have my name against more than 1000 bodies already, but the time has come to go for proper exploration. Ie, going and not coming back until further notice.

A bit annoying that you have to wait for 10-20 sec to scan the body, but ehh... at the moment better than any other form of play.

Going out in a cobra with 24Ly range, should be enough to move around most places, while not costing too much to repair eventually when I come back. One question that I have is - What happens when your hull goes down to 0, do you die and lose all the credits, or is there still a possibility to come back and cash in?

I think that I read somewhere that some ship attributes go down by 70% and that it is still possible to fly, but if not what would be the right time to pack up and come back, to still have a chance of cashing in?

good luck. given this mornings update by frontier that although we've discovered almost 900,000 systems, that it only equates to 0.000223 of the known galaxy, i guess there's still many more to put names against.

Good luck.

I did a 'shake-down' exploration mission (about 1000ly out and back) to test the loadout on my Cobra. After selling my data I stripped out the two small lasers and cargo hold and, changed a few components to give me just under 26ly jump range and headed back out.

My first 'destination' is around 3000ly away and if I make it there OK I'll push further out.
