Assassination missions have been upped, but the payout remains the same...

Hello, this is it again, the fact that flying a big ship has nearly no upside, fighting the (now very much improved) Elite anacondas is much more challenging. As it should be ! but the payouts are still worth between 130K and 200K, which is pathetically low considering the big ships cost is approximately 60K repair bill per 10% hull lost (for the cheapest aka Imperial Clipper).
Basically it comes back to the fact that if players want to make a digit of benefit in those fight they need to whether spam shield cells like they did before, or stay in the small ships that SHOULD NOT be able to take down an Elite Anaconda.

Players that are easier to take down than those Anacondas are out there with bounties ranging in the millions, so why does an Elite (highest rank achievable) Anaconda (Most expensive ship to own currently) armed to the teeth (self explanatory) and that calls him/herself a "pirate lord" be worth only a sad pathetic 200K credits (not including the bounty on their head which is usually and strangely laughably low) ?

Now I can already read all the comments telling me that they take a 'Conda for breakfast in their Viper, but this shouldn't be the case, Anaconda should be a multi small ship target or a single big ship one, the fact that a 140K base ship takes down a 140M base one is just ridiculous, it would be an ULM taking down a B 24 flying fortress !

Also, how about some variety in the targets, Elite Anaconda gets old quite fast, why not Elite Dropship, Elite Clipper, Elite sidewinder (and that is where the payouts could be tweaked depending on the ship type)

Anyway, what do you think ?

Vipers are the easiest things to kill in game.

100% of the time i've encountered an Anaconda in a viper I died in the first 5 seconds.

I use a Cobra now. When I get interdicted by Anacondas (and above), I just hit boost and try to escape. If I dont I get taken out pretty quickly and my weapons do absolutely nothing.

At least I can escape now in my Cobra.

There's a surefire method of taking down anaconda's post 1.1 in a viper with no SCB and no chaff.
It takes between 30-60 minutes so its really not worth it in terms of credits, but its a real test of your skills and focus.

I'll go through it here now and maybe record a vid later.

The first thing you need to do is target the power plant. If you lose targeting on the anaconda you will need to do this again, it isn't remembered.
1. Get in close and KWS.
2. Run away to 4.5-6.5km
3. Dodge missiles until he runs out

OK now for the tricky bit.
You need to 'joust' a bit here. Ensure your boost is charged and ready. 3 pips to shields, 3 to weapons. I use fixed beams and gimballed multis. When flying at the anaconda, use your lateral thrusters to 'arc towards' it, holding down your fire buttons. As soon as you get a heat warning boost straight past the anaconda so you are flying behind it and directly away from it Once you get over 3km away you are safe to make adjustments and turn using FA off. Now go 4 pips to shields and 2 to engines and wait for engines to recharge a boost. If you don't have enough energy for a boost you will die when you get close in. Then go 3 pips shields 3 weapons, turn and repeat. You'll find you are taking down the shields of the anaconda faster than it is taking yours down. Strange, huh? Works though.
Repeat for AGES until you win.
Also if your shields get taken down you need to go and wait for them to recharge before reengaging.

Warning: if you lose focus for a second,or forget something, you will definitely die. You have to have full focus the entire time. That's why i enjoy it, its a good test.

Seems simple enough, its how I tackle Dropships in my viper, or rather its how I used to do it.

Except I dont get 60 mins of play time ever. Thats rare for me. I only get to play 20-30 mins 2-3 times a week.

Its better for me to just avoid Anacondas all together :p

fair enough. TBH i don't want to do it too often - it does take forever and there are better things to be doing in game - but its the most intense space dogfighting i've had.

I just had an encounter with one... they are much harder this time.
Coupled with the heavy nerf on the Shield Cell banks, using a Viper/Cobra is near impossible to do. Not without heavy damage.

A mission that gives you something like 150,000 will cost you at least 50,000 in repair if you're a decent pilot.
They are unfortunately not worth doing anymore.

If they up the challenge/risk of something then the rewards should also be upped. On a side note I did an elite Anaconda mission post 1.1, and finding that I have to hull tank in an Cobra. So to adapt I recommend getting the mirrored bulkhead for laser damage, as the Shield Cell Bank change really hurts for these missions. Fortunately the Cobra's repair bill is not unreasonable.

Fly behind their engines and target the power plant. Lasers for shields and kinetic for hull. Use your damn lateral/vertical thrusters. They are still doable, but yeah seriously need a pay raise for that level of hazardous work.

Nah. I take down elite anaconda's in my cobra, albeit with the assistance of the local constabulary. I usually end up with between 15-30% of my hull intact and no canopy, although this could probably be avoided by using shield cell banks, but the reload bill for my multicannons is about 1500 and my repair bill is about 6000. Not bad for a reward of 150k + whatever bounty. They have gotten a lot harder though.

a small leak will sink a great ship.
I think it should be hard, to take down a Anaconda with a Viper, but it should be possible. Maybe 2 times out of 5 tries. Anyway, against a Cmdr in an Anaconda you don't stand a chance, if you're flying a Viper. But again, it should be possible. It's a lot of fun.

it takes less than 5 minutes to take an Elite Anaconda down after 1.1,with an A fitted Viper, not 30-60 mins. They r a bit harder than they used to be but still very easy to kill. You can still equip chaff and shield cell bank on a viper after 1.1 and u dont have to spam either to kill one of these npcs. 4 multi cannons do enough dmg to their shields and hull. it takes longer to travel around and find the right USS actually.

How can you fit chaff and scb on an a rated viper????

I would love to know, because i'm already way over my power allowance without them

Reinforced Alloys
A3 plant, thrusters, distributor
D3 FSD, D2 Life support, D3 Sensors
A3 Shield generator
1 A3 Shield Cell Bank
4 Multi Cannons
Chaff Launcher
Point Defence
Power used deployed 11.68 - Available 12.00

OK thanks

I went for military grade hull - don't know if this has a power requirement
I have B2 life support which i could get rid of.
Don't want to change my FSD though. I like to travel and boy do i hate stopping to refuel every 3 systems.

I also have A3 sensors. I like having them but i could change it up i guess for the convenience of not having 45 minute battles with anacondae

just change the fsd when u r hunting anacondas and put back the A when traveling, D life support is more than enough if u r in a system with stations not far away from the main star.
Having some D modules ,which r lighter, will make it easier to move around the conda and position yourself behind it.

By going over power and managing it in the module screen. Remember that you can't use your FSD while deployed so you can set that to a lower priority. You can also turn your cargo hatch off since a combat viper doesn't need cargo. The fuel scoop also gets turned off while deployed.
