Looks like I'll have to self destruct

i just try and keep the short list of un scoopable stars in mind. LYTT..
Easy for me to remember since it means "listen" in norwegian. :)

Looks like you wandered into a stellar nursery full of newborn stars. Be careful out there, exploring's not very safe if you let your guard down.

1300 light years out and the last 50 or so systems were all the wrong type of stars to refuel at, I didn't think I'd have to go that far without finding a star that wasn't a dwarf. 5 more jumps left, what a waste. Live and learn I suppose.
Ouch, that said the galaxy map now allows you to see star type, VERY useful for when you are somewhere and not finding anything to refuel with, stop with 'ok' tank and look about for refuelable star.

Another thing to watch out for other than regions of non-scoopable stars is close binaries. If you apprach a binary pair of stars that are really close, you can pop out of hyperspace between them and nicely cook your ship. I took my cobra down to 77% hull doing just that and I was very quick to react to the situation after it happens. Nutter has a fantastic thread with a guide on how to avoid this exact problem. Worth a read BEFORE you do what I did and knoack around 30% of your hull off lol, especially if you are in an Asp.

Sure i read a dev post some time back that they planned on introducing a mechanic so other players can help if you run out of fuel.

A good idea but possibly not that much help if you're thousands of light years away from populated space

Pick your route carefully. I still can't see the benefit of the 1,000ly route planner. It sounds like a recipe for disaster. I never chart my route further than the distance of my fuel tank to prevent unscoopable stars and binaries/trinaries. So far I've managed to travel 41,000ly from colonized space beyond the core without any fuel issues using this method... in a Sidewinder.

Tip: Easy way to remember KGB FOAM: Picture Putin in a bubble bath. :p

I'll plot my route out to hundreds of light years, but I do check the next system on the galaxy map before every jump and look ahead to check there are enough scoopable stars coming up so I can over ride it if need be.
