Things I learned today: Lakon Asp is actually a two-seater vehicle

It's little moments like this that make me eager to have the walking around ships content. I want to be able to explore all the rooms you never knew were there :D

Loving my ASP, especially as I'm finally getting there with some A class modules.

I'm not sure what the second seat is actually for - is there any in-game lore for it? Gunner? Long-haul Barista?

Ah! I always wondered by the behind-the-door lines looked off. The in-game description does mention that the ASP is "multi-crewed." (And also that it is marketed for customers looking for their first mult-crewed ship - which puzzled me, since I previously had the much cheaper Adder which is a two seater.)

Perhaps the operator of the discovery scanners is in the second chair -- a sort of scientific bombardier.

Gonna be that guy ; it's not an ASP, it's an Asp.
As in the snake. You know, how lots of the ED ships are named ;)

You'll do it once per ship and that'll be it. I don't get the excitement over this. I'd rather they devote their energy towards actual content, but I guess we all have our preferences.

I suspect that second seat is for the autopilot...you know, the blow-up one? (Airplane! reference for those who don't get it). ;)

My guess is the second seat is cartography. A scientist can sit and observe and direct scans. The angle is right for observing stars move against the background while in supercruise.

Chill fellas, I've been aware of the snake naming convention for 30 years; I played the original.

Yeah Dean, I think you and Fen have it, as an explorer-focused ship a scan operator sounds right.

The Asp has two seats as it was originally designed as a military patrol vessel. Having multiple crewman was a given for its mission profile.

The T9 has a couple of seats below it as well. You can barely see them even from inside the cockpit. It's easier to see focused on the C1 weapons in outfitting.

I'd like it better if all snake-named vessels were from Faulcon deLacy shipyards, it would feel much more consistent. Also, the shape of the Asp doesn't look like a Lakon except for the cockpit...

Oh well... just my OCD talking, I presume... it's not like they are going to change anything.

My guess, given that it's a former military design and the weapons are located directly beside and below, is that it's the gunners chair?
