Eagle and Viper are cannon fodder

Yes. I highly suggest increasing max boost speed for these two ships by 10-20 m/s. Maybe 20 for the eagle and 10 viper. If im in an Asp and you are in either of these 2 ships, no matter what loadout you have or how pro you are, I WILL obliterate you. The Eagle's high maneuverability, with its pathetic armor gives it an advantage only vs small ships. And to think it can outrun the Asp after an interdiction is a joke. You might as well self-destruct.

Please, please consider this FD.

I'd like to see all small ships have the same top speed. IMO it's the most important spec. Lots of speed means you can join/leave a fight anytime you like. Currently sidewinder/eagle/adder are nearly unplayable in pvp against a viper (which is inevitably the ship that will pick a fight with you), so effectively takes these ships out of the game (for 1-on-1 pvp at least).

Keep in the the gap between the default boost speeds of the Eagle and Viper is ~50m/s. The Viper's speed is fine in my opinion, I am in complete agreement about the Eagle though. And pity any poor pilot who tries to get in a fight inside of a Sidewinder.

I don't think the Viper would even be dethroned from it's lofty perch as "best combat ship" if the smaller fighters speeds were increased. It still has a very good weapons loadout and durability in its favor. By contrast the Eagle's boost speed is closest to the Lakon type-6, and a stock Sidewinder can't even outrun a type-7 over 10 ten times its mass if it has a decent power distributor and spams the boost button.

I think they are supposed to be that way. The three ships you mentioned are "starter" ships and in my opinion should be a class down from Cobra/Viper.

But even with equal speed they'd still be a class down from viper/cobra in almost every other way.

I agree... I see these three ships as minor threats in their own right when facing a bigger foe (a single wasp if you like) but if they are grouped together, then they would likely become much more of a threat than a single heavy combat vessel.

PvP? Yeah, you probably don't want to bring the sidey. But PvE? Even the complete stock sidey isn't that bad. I killed a lot of NPC sidewinders, eagles, adders, and cobras (when they didn't FSD out - I had no chance to stop them). In fact I earned my first ~500k doing nothing but killing pirates and black marketing USS finds. Totally stock free sidewinder, so no risk. Eventually I kitted out my sidewinder and used that for even longer.

you should not be going up against big ships in a small ship........

I actually disagree with you on this one. If you like me have been interdicted by an Imperial Clippper in my Asp then it depends on your loadout weapons wise and the shields on your ship. A class shields and a face full of weapons and missiles soon saw me blowing one to bits.

This sounds like a test of might: I propose we cap him and collect a million dollar payday! (warning, payday may not be real...)

Sure, you can beat almost any (NPC) ship in an Eagle. But his point is, that you have no right to demand a buff if you loose against an Anaconda in your Sidewinder.
