Hahahaha! Clawhammer's post! I was only scan reading this as I'm currently trading, but then came across this gem and nearly spat my tea all over the monitor!

Podcasts. Many Podcasts. (Nerdist, Smodcast Network, and of course LAVE Radio) :)

BTW, speaking of Lave Radio and podcasts. Does anyone happen to know of any "live" stuff going on as far as audio streaming? With regards to Elite: Dangerous obviously.

Hmm..how to keep this short. OK so in the states we have "talk radio" it's basically commentary / political editorial but with occasional listener calls. It's not always political though, for example I'm a huge fan of a gardening call in show, although if you think politics, computer games, or Football is divisive? Sir and or Madam you have met few gardeners. Returning to the point though, does anyone know if anyone is doing anything similar for Elite: Dangerous? If not? Get on it Lave Radio people.

Trading is boring. It is a grind. I'd love to make money doing something else, and I do try. The simple fact of the matter though is that if you play a game long term, you'll get bored with your niche eventually and want to do something else. Having gobs of cash just makes that easier. What is interesting to me, is how in the long term those with cash choose to use that power. I have a hunch that when we get Wings, we'll start to see a few money making options beyond trade. For example, my Python can currently carry 220 tons of cargo, if I get jumped by 3 vipers? They don't even have to kill me. They can just hatch-break, let me on my way and spend a good amount of time scooping all that up. With very little effort, I can change that same Python into a death dealing, viper eating, "come at me bro", type of machine. If I do that though? I don't even come close to making the money I need for an Anaconda.

It'd be nice if I didn't have to choose. I'm cool with it though, not my first rodeo.

P.S. My wife of 15 years doesn't play this game. So, was naming every ship after a snake a truly good idea? My PYTHON, INTERDICTED, AN ANACONDA <= I invite you to say that at a social gathering where you are the only Elite player. Yes, yes, yes. History and all. Sometimes a RETCON isn't a bad idea. As I say good-bye to my Python and slide into a Type.....9.......Heavy.

Yup. Netflix, forums with music on, all very relaxing.

I have, however got a bit bored lately, so instead of whinging that the game is boring I'm simply going to take a little break from ED and come back later, probably when 1.2 is released :)

While trading I read the internet and also study.

Do you do other things while trading and if so what?

I trade and hunt for pirates at the same time. The diversity works very well for me. Exclusively trading bores me, so I take on bulletin board jobs, hunt for pirates and (currently) trade palladium and land enrichment systems.
It is not really possible in all trader ships though, but I am flying a Clipper, armed to the teeth and with 160 tonnes of cargo space. For a while I had a T-7. Bounty hunting in that is not a good idea.

I did some bounty hunting at a NAV beacon in my T7 to test the weapon load-out. I expected it to be a suicide mission - but I made 35,000 Cr ;-)

I often check out USS'es near the station I'm traveling to. I don't check out ones en route - it slows me down way too much - but those that are close to the destination is fine. :)

Play Civ: beyond earth. Was something of a challenge during the SL rush as there was next to no piloting downtime so was alt tabbing every few seconds.

Not doing anything else while trading, maybe sometimes drinking beer and calculating better trading routes. But I also like playing Euro Truck sim, you have to concentrate on driving :)

I have my laptop next to me, and i browse this forum, or watch some new youtube vids, or keep up with the Star Citizen website.
Whats annoying though is this game keep interrupting me, having to constantly adjust course in SC, having to jump out and dock, being interdicted, suns in my face having to pull away quick, please ED just leave me alone whilst i am doing something else for gods sake.

It is not at all impossible, but it is more likely you will run into trouble eventually.
I felt guns were a bit of a waste on my T-&, so I removed them to get more range.

Curious how you will adapt to the- T-9. This past Thursday I finally had enough CR's to move from my Python to a T-9 with max. cargo 532 I think, A-class FSD, etc. along with enough cash to fill her up with goods. I sold the T-9 within 24hrs as I dreadfully missed the versatility of the Python. Working towards the Anaconda now... I had progressed from a Sidewinder, to a MkIII, to an ASP, then a T-7, Python, T-9, back to Python.
