The only way to put a shield on is to equip D class equipment. That would seriously screw up my jump distance, after all they're the lightest. That would make it even more of a chore to fly than it already is. With A class internals the hull is just far too heavy.
He's being attacked by a Cobra, a beginners ship. Try that with a Python and you're dead. So essentially what they've done is not allow us to escape interdiction, so we submit, previously that was fine I could boost away with one or two percent damage. We don't have the ability to fight, the ship just can't handle it, even with A class thrusters at 51 million credits a pop. Now we can't even escape because hey a Cobra has the disruptive mass to stop me entering SC. I now have the stark choice, taking about one and a half minutes of damage or logging out and suffering fifteen seconds. At least with the latter, I get to keep my cargo and ship. To the guy that said that other people like bounty hunters or explorers can lose their bounties or exploration data. Granted yes you can, but you have the ability to fight, plus once I leave the station my cargo is a liability on each occasion two to five million credits worth of it. The amount of time, money and effort I've put into this game, from a X55 to an Edtracker and also skins and keyring, etc to support the game, I feel it's a smack in the mouth for heavy traders. Not that I don't think it's a fantastic game, I still do. But to have to log out and log back in just to get that tiny bit of balance is just not right.I'll try and find a post to link written by another type 9 pilot, he regularly fights interdictions and wins, with his type 9 it involved playing a bit with flight assist, but the mass of his type 9 basically turned it into a pretty useful turret.

ok just re-read the post, looks like he took a lot of heat after the post that made life a little more difficult.. but in terms of NPC's i reckon it still stands as a good read.

No read it again. My main complaint is that I can't escape interdictions, the T9 isn't maneuverable enough. So I submit. Now because of the mass disruption I can't run. As the maneuverability or lack of it I can't fight, I have to sit there for 90 seconds before I can charge my FSD. People are switching off when I mention lack of shields, yes that would be correct with a NPC. But with a CMDR which can interdict me upto 4 times, it's impossible to get to a station in once piece. We're talking about an excess of four minutes of attack without any defence, because by then your shields just won't be in working condition. Why are people mentioning the T6, you're comparing a 7t van to a 40t truck. The handling is like chalk and cheese. Pete, lastly, your craft is far more maneuverable than mine. At least you can dodge the shots. It takes me about 15 seconds to do a complete barrel roll.
Okay since the last patch trading has become almost useless. It's impossible to escape an interdiction with the Lakon 9, because it's slow, unmaneuverable even with everything A class. So I'd submit to the interdiction and then boost away to supercruise. Now you can't even do that. I've got disruptive mass even though they're on the other side of the radar. I've lost 20 million credits alone today because of it. I rarely, die because I trade in a lonely area of the galaxy so I only have NPC's to worry about. But if I can't escape them, escaping a CMDR would be next to impossible.
I've not found the need to rant about the game, but when a trader has so much more to lose as we can't insure cargo, it makes the game even more of a kick in the teeth.
There's no point weaponising the ship for two reasons, getting the pipper in a slow lumbering T9 on the target and because it would cut down on cargo space, I tend not to carry a shield generator. I'm not asking for much, just give me a fighting chance

Tank the interdiction best you can and system jump; twice if you have to, to ditch the dogs so to speak. If you're bound to get to one station in the same system against a dedicated interdictor you're not going to make it. Losing time escaping is money you saved in rebuy. As a primary trader your bottom line is your win condition, and being shot up in a multimillion-credit ship while bullheadedly just doing what you're doing without regard for the risks is not good financial sense.
...why do you think truckers carry shotguns?
....Your new tactic should be to:
- Submit ->
- Boost in one direction to max speed ->
- 4 pips SYS (Best shield resist strength, not just recharge) 2 to Engines ->
- Pop Shield Potion / Chaff ->
- UNLOCK YOUR NEXT SYSTEM DESTINATION and jump directly to SUPERCRUISE, it's a MUCH shorter time to return to SC. Note: When launching to SC it just wants you to fly max speed in any direction, not to your nav compass target.
- Soon as you're in SC, jump to the next system. If against a player, you can trick them by dropping out of SC again on your own, then jumping to the next system or waiting a bit to jump to SC again.
The game offers you a fighting chance, you just chose not to take it. This advice will ensure you never die in solo mode, and have a fighting chance in open. Good luck.
