OHHH I feel quite dirty!

Found myself in deep space when I saw a sidewinder, said hi, no response, yet again. He flew right in front of me after a sun scoop, so I interdicted him and for fun asked for some cargo, if he had none i would have gone, he ignored me, then the message of frameshift come through my comms, I flew into space rage and immediately attempted to mass lock him, I'll give him a good blast before him jumps cheecky [redacted]. One big bang later, oops I killed him, not that I haven't killed before in space, but those wanted scum should have paid their fines, and as for pirates, well they just asking for it. Immediate guilt trip, I felt all DIRTY, killed because he wouldn't talk to me, he may not even spoke english, it may have even been a little girl (amend-well she would deserve it playing man games). OMG what have I done?

BEWARE SPACE RAGE KIDDIES, leaves you feeling DIRTY!

Some new players might not notice the comms come up and just see another ship and try to run especially if they aren't that good at combat or have a badly damaged ship. I wonder if the player realised that it was another player.

Comms is a bit clunky and sometimes it takes a few seconds to register you actually have a message. Plus if you're browsing the map all you get is a slight ping, no visual cues, so could easily miss it.

yeah, to make you feel worse; imagine the other player frantically trying to figure out how to reply.. and dying in the esc menu scrolling frantically through the .5km long control keybinding list

;)

I interdicted someone in a Type 6 in an Anarchy system.

I asked for 20tonnes of cargo. He said I could have 5. I took his shields down and started eating his hull as an incentive to rethink his stance.

He then said. I could either have 5 or he would self destruct.... And then called me a rude name.

I tried to explain cost / benefit to him..... And then blew him up.

Traders.. Weird bunch.

Don't go pirating Sidewinders man! It's not cool.

They never carry any of the good stuff either. You want to go after people who can afford classy cargo!

Oh, that's pretty harsh...

He wasn't doing you any harm.

He'll be the one posting on here in a minute about this idiot CMDR who killed him for no reason at all....

You should feel guilty, indeed you should.

Also, unless this has improved drastically in 1.1, sometimes comms just doesn't work. It's entirely possible that the other player can see your messages, but when he tries to reply he gets an error message.

The thing about piracy and the threat of violence; is that... If they don't believe you are sincere, they will never respect you.
If they don't respect/fear you. They will just ignore your, ever so polite requests to lighten their load.

Next time I find him, He will know my request is genuine and then, I believe work towards a mutually beneficial out come.

I might have taken 18... but 5 is just insulting.

Its also totally worth the 8k fine in a policed system.

The traders are like cattle and need to be trained.

I waited in a docking queue at an outpost when a fellow commander pulled in as well and greeted me. Took me a good while to figure out how the comms work. I was already getting worried he/she thinks I'm being rude before I got my message out :D

Speaking of comms.. is it possible to send "public" messages, visible to anyone who happens to be near by or is it PM only type of deal?

The thing about self-destruct, atm, is that when you do, you don't spill any cargo (only when you pirate NPCs do they then vent it; I've not been aware of cargo appearing after a ship goes pop). So some see this as a way to get back at the pirate. Wait until cargo spill on pop is implemented.

He probably decided he would sooner die than give his hard earned cargo to thieving pirate scum lol.

Respect is something you earn. Fear breeds anger and hatred, not respect.

Of course, in setting like E: D you might need to instill some fear before you can start to earn respect.

If I had been the T6 pilot, I'd expected you to be a bit more reasonable i nthe banter - like accepting something between 10 and 15 tonnes (giving chance to up my offer after shields went etc.). :)

Totally agree, but the only person who lost out was him.

To him, when he met me in space, it was the most important and exciting thing to have happened to him.
It changed his game, effected his life and will leave a last mark on this soul.

To me, it was a Friday.
