I have a rather... strange request. Can anybody help?

Okay, this is going to sound weird, but does anybody have a screenshot of a Lakon Type-6 with a badly beat up paint job? You see, I just got back from a decently-epic exploration trip in my exploration-fitted Type-6 - Over 250 systems explored! Some for the first time, even, hehe ;) I finally got back into human space not a half-hour ago, docked (very carefully!), and what's the first thing I do? Well, it's programmed into me at this point - Repair and refuel.

Wait. Repair repaints the damn ship now, too! It didn't always, for you folks that weren't around pre-release. Anyways, I remembered, afterwards, of course, that I wanted to see the old girl's battered exterior before repainting. Well, sh....ucks.

I tried hard-exiting using Task Manager, hoping it hadn't updated the save yet. No dice :(

I really want to get an idea what she WOULD have looked like after that epic slog. Took me weeks to get her to that point! Can anybody help a brother out?

I did the same when I came back from my last exploration trip in my Asp (did not visit as many systems as you did, just about 150). I made a screenshot of my ship before (when the paint job was 100% intact) and after the journey (but before repairing), for the same reason, to see some nice worn out paint job. But IIRC I couldn't make out any difference between the images, the ship still looked exactly like in the screenshot that I made before my travel, so I was kind of disappointed. When I am back home I will post them here, so you can have a look.

Paint work is separate to repairs, I leave my T9 looking battered. The devs seemed to have majorly slowed down the effect of paint getting damaged, likely a result of all the complaints in Gamma. The ships would look ruined after a couple of trade runs.

Looking at my T9 in the rift (from the ships bridge) I can see that patches of paint slowly disappear as time goes on.

Yeah, I remember back in Gamma, too. I miss the ease with which I could make my ship look ratty, hehe :)

Speaking of shich, do either of you have shots of your ships? And does anyone, ANYONE, have a shot of a Type-6 with a ratty paint job of any kind? I'm desperate here, as letting it go to pot again is taking forever!

Thanks in advance, by the way :)

Sorry, OP, can't help you. I ventured into the repair tab for the first time yesterday- haven't bothered looking previously because my T6 never shows so much as a scratch. It's still a featureless grey blob (and yes, I have all the relevant graphics options maxed). The thing's a Ford Transit van for goodness sake, it should look beaten up after some heavy use :)

can't help either sorry :)

too bad they moved it to repairs, actually not so bad, but even worse that the single module repair doesn't work, at least for me. so i cannot have a worn out paintjob.

I have tried and tried to get the paint job down by not repairing it and I can't. The needle never moves below 99% for me and I've had the canopy blown out and 35% hull at one point but the paint is intact still. It's a shame because I really want to run with some battle scars.

I'm sure a "distressed look" skin will be made available at some point for the low price of ten pounds.

so it's not working for most people, or what? that's a shame, because it looked awesome in beta, and i think quite a bit of dev-time went into it.

I've never seen more than a single chip of paint go out of any of my ships. Paintwork has never gone below 99% in the repairs tab, what's the deal with that?

Wonder if it's been ticketed then, it'll be low down on the priority list but if it worked before in Beta then something has knocked the damage visuals off during recent releases. With no exterior view and folks hitting 'Repair All' arbitrarily I guess it's never really been noticed.

So, is this for the Type 6 you're talking about? Because, even after I got back, I managed to let the paint degrade down to... 98%, I think, before accidentally repairing it again :( I started to see a little fraying at the edges, and quite a bit of wear in the black paint on the top of the ship, but unfortunately I didn't let it get very far before my SECOND brain fart (sigh)

It degrades a LOT slower than it did back in Gamma (as others have pointed out) but it does degrade. Not sure how far gone you can get it to look nowadays, but including the paintwork in with the 'Repair All' feature doesn't help :(

Flying to close to a sun seems to be the best way to strip the paint off I've found after taking heat damage > 150'c - usually lose 1-2% per 'burn'. A 'repair all but the paint' option again as in gamma would be great...

This didn't seem to work for me, and I tried it multiple times, lol :p Thanks for the suggestion, though - It was worth a shot!
