Fer-de-Lance ! What do we know?

It's coming next month !

I really like the sleek design of the ship, but I wonder, which role does it fulfill?
Do we have any clue regarding its specs, size and price?

The 84's elite was a figher, I hope it will be the same, in the price range of the ASP :)

A Zorgon Petterson Group (Zee Pee Gee) designed vessel favoured by well-heeled bounty hunters and freewheeling business corporations. A sophisticated craft, capable of both limited trading, combat and leisure function. The spacious hull is mainly given over to sophisticated weaponry, defences and navigation equipment at the expense of cargo capacity. Cabin accommodation is large and luxurious with extensive Owndirt Inc. recycling facilities, encouraging extended live-in periods (useful whilst pursuing a quarry). Fuel scoop is a standard fitting, ensuring complete self-sufficiency.

Fer deLances are reptiles.
Fer deLances fight ALL the time.
The purpose of the Fer deLance is to flip out and kill marks.

I think the FDL is going to be a multi-role ship, 'capable of both limited trading, combat and leisure function' rather than a pure 'fighter' like the Viper. Think of it like an upmarket Cobra Mk. III, slightly smaller than the Asp, but more expensive at 8-10 million credits. I imagine that a lot players using an Asp in a combat role right now will switch to the FDL once it's available.

It's been mentioned a few times that the FDL is the ultimate symbol of luxury. I don't think it's going to anywhere near Asp prices, I think we're going to be look more like Python/Orca or maybe even up in to Anaconda territory.

We pretty much know that wont be the case, it wont be multi role. The Asp already sits in that slot. It is a BH ship so will be BH and combat based

The 'Asp Explorer' is not a multi-role ship, it's an exploration ship and the pure 'combat' ship for that size class is going to be the Vulture. The original lore points to the ship being multi-role, this doesn't mean it's not going to be suitable for a bounty hunter, it quite plainly will be an excellent ship to bounty hunt in, but it's going to be versatile and could double as a trading vessel quite happily.

I hope that's just fluff talk, because we don't need more super expensive ships, we need more ships in the few-million-range.

I'm disappointed with how it looks...

Anways, it's supposed to be all about self-sufficiency, the best components and luxury travel so minimum 20m CR start price (and a built-in fuel scoop).

I agree with Quineloe, there needs to be more between cobra and clipper/dropship.

Personally, I'm hoping it's a fighter in the 5M range. ASP is very much a multi-role ship in that price range.

EDIT - It is a fighter, I'm 99% sure on this from a source.

Hello there

My memory of the Fer De Lance is vague, but I do remember it being talked about with reverence and hushed tones.

I wouldnt bother me if it were a mega cred ship.

However I would like to see many many more very low end ships. Tugs/shuttles etc.

Rgds

I wouldn't be surprised if it actually sits somewhere between the Asp and Cobra. Either a newsletter or a dev spoke about it being ideal for bounty hunters, and the only thing that makes the Asp not ideal for that is repair cost. So surely it has to match the Asp on firepower speed and turning but not cost as much to repair.

Though having said that, it will probably coast 100,000 credits and be almost as useless as the Python now appears to be.
