Bah, where's the pirate code?!

Working the community goal in Yembo.

I'm piloting a T7 in open so expect a pirate or three and carry a few tonnes of precious metals for them if I get caught. I think of it as all part of the game.

I didn't expect to abandon the agreed cargo and still get blown up.

Bah humbug.

Back to PvE until I make up the insurance. :(

Always submit and run, smaller ships won't have time to blow you up.

Get back to Supercruise, drop to normal space again(Immediately) and leave it flying to your destination at normal speed while you go get a cup of coffee. There's no way he'll find you and by the time you're back he won't be around and you'll have a nice drink for your travels.

Works all the time except when there's no coffee.

You carry a few tons of precious metal for the pirates? Sounds like you have cargo that is more expensive you are not willing to part with and this is just an appeasement gift. It's like holding out on a mugger by keeping a thousand dollars in your sock and $20 in your wallet. He knows that isn't all you have and you are trying to get over on him so he stabbed you in the gut. Next time give up the rares and you might get away.

Personally I don't mind pirates. As long as they are reasonable. (Of course, I can do much better without them - but that's what life is about: Different people, different attitudes...)

BUT
when I get interdicted and am expected to drop 20% of my cargo - no argueing about it, no haggering, no discussion, whatever, I self destruct. 5% (max) is all right, escpecially, if the pirate "behaves nice" ;-) 20% though is too much to give away.

irrelevant, my coffee pot is on my dashboard, in reaching distance, like any good space traveler :)

Until there is a proper criminal mechanic in Elite which would deter Pirates from vapourising you - even after relinquishing your cago - I would simply submit to the interdiction, and boost for all you're worth.

It's a shame for all the 'good' pirates out there.

I understand when pirates complain about traders logging after interdiction, but when you get stories like this, you can hardly blame those traders for logging or going into solo/PvE mode.

The pirates should be complaining about the pew-pew guys instead.

and that is why i'll work my way to bigger ship so i can just kill you and pick the remains before you have time to get out...

such behaviour is the reason why more and more pirates turn to "shoot first ask later"

wouldn't you be loosing much more if you self destruct?

Last night, i was interdicted by a CMDR in Yembo, i dropped speed and expected his request, but he never said a word and just destroyed my ship.

Yeah, did he cargo scan you first? You might've added insult to injury. It's a risk you're taking, especially in Yembo.

There is no such thing, honor, code, guidelines... It's a video game, I wouldn't expect anyone to play with certain rules in their head unless they are forced by the actual game. There is no such thing, trust no one in the ED. :D

Flying a Cobra, piracy was hard. All I would ask for is 8-16 canister, and they'd jump out straight away. So, I resolved to shoot them and use limpets. Still barely worked. My choices, if I go back to piracy are pretty much limited to 2 things:

-Interdict ships that have to pay a ton of cash for repairs, and bring 'em down to 5% hull if they try to use FSD
-Shoot first, ask questions later.

Also, one last comment. A trader up top said he would self destruct if the pirate wasn't nice and had low demands? It's a pirate. The game needs to make it so that pirates must have a way to get a trader's cargo against all of his wishes, as that is the life of a pirate, and it creates the awesome tense situations that we're in open to experience. So, for example, Self-destruct should take, say, 15 seconds? Maybe 25? A pirate would have to run a costly ship like an ASP to mass lock the trader, overcome point defense systems/destroy cargo hatch without killing the trader. I don't want to get into this too well, but a trader should have no immediate way to resist pirates, and instead should take time, effort, and planning.
