Fer-de-Lance ! What do we know?

It is supposed to be a bounty hunting ship. Bounty hunting can barely cover running costs of an ASP. It has to be cheaper.

There is plenty of price places for new ships to slot in amongst the existing line-up. But then they're all super-expensive to repair.

I personally wouldn't have a problem with smaller ships in the more expensive range, where the price provides a higher-class ship in a smaller package with a cheaper to repair hull. But that may be considered unbalanced or something.

One thing I can guarantee is that once it's released, the forums will be a storm of moaning as everyone has their own idea in their head as to how sexy/useful/deadly they are and Frontier can't make it all things to all people. If it's too deadly, people will moan, then people will moan at the moaners for moaning. Oh bother. Now I'm moaning.

As for my opinion?

I'd like it to be the Cobra's deadly big brother. Better hardpoint location, loads of slots for equipment and with a turn rate that makes the pre-nerf Python look like a sloth. I'm prepared to pay for the privilege, too. Clipper territory, probably on the price.

totally. i would throw that amount of money at it

I think the thing that annoys me about it is simple they add the ferdelance ship that was only in Elite and none of its sequels and don't add the krait saying its outdated. What did they do find a long lost planet of em or a ferdelance factory?

I think it's going to have much better hardpoint placement as it's one of the things that lets the Cobra down. Definitely see it appealing to Python pilots still hurting after the great balancing of 2015 ;) It won't be cheap to maintain (it's the height of luxury after all) and I'd hope that more lucrative and diverse bounty hunting missions to pay for the upkeep would be added. Maybe we'll see that in 1.2, but I don't think even a partial mission system overhaul is on the cards for a while.

All I can say is I've wanted one since I was eight years old, and I'm not about to stop wanting one now even if they make it into a clown car.

The latter. Whereas, according to the fiction, the Krait was supposed to have already been discontinued when the original game came out. I hope they'll add them eventually as scrap and salvage would be a great way to expand ship customisation, as well as giving exploration a bit of extra interest.

I hope that's just fluff talk, because we don't need more super expensive ships, we need more ships in the few-million-range.

i agree, but i cant really see it being that low priced, im thinking maybe somethin in the region of the Clipper price, that same sense of luxury but with better weapon points.

There's nothing luxurious about the Clipper, the price scales with trading and with firepower.

For sure, For every new ship >10Mcr there should be 3 <10Mcr - where 10Mcr changes over time to reflect the sweetspot in game. The last thing we need is FD adding in 500Mcr ships to emphasize a credit grind even more

It's coming next month !
I really like the sleek design of the ship, but I wonder, which role does it fulfill?

It's not coming March. The patch will be delayed because this is law of game development -everything is delayed. Expect it May in Beta and two month after that in current release.

We know it looks like a hauler ... :(

If only they'd remove those "wings" at the side it'd actually look like a Fer-de-lance

Hoping it's more of a combat-focused ship than the Cobra/Asp.

How is it not luxurious? it requires a certain status for the right to own it, it is built more for comfort and appearance than practicallity, it has the best 'clear' viewing arc of any ship, and it handles like a lady half her size. Oh and it mentions luxury in the description.
