Flip Side to the Pirating Coin

We've had numerous debates about pirating and people are vocal about it not being "griefing", on my way to Naddadour (or whatever it is called) in Yembo, I was pulled out of hyperspace by an Asp and immediately attacked. No scan, nothing. I am not wanted and there was nothing in my hold.

Does that qualify?

Perhaps the pilot was roleplaying as someone who wants to prevent the Yembo goal from be achieved?

Part of Anarchy perhaps ? In any case, while Community Goals is a novelty right now it'll attract all manner of player RP. If you create a sandbox expect someone to throw sand in your eye.

You're dealing with the human mind, there are going to be psychos out there. I personally enjoy these interactions, they change the monotony and add some panic.

First thing I do when I interdict is take the preys shields down.

They are often much more cooperative after that.

Garr!

Chats are slow in ED. It takes precious seconds and not everyone uses macros.

... and not everyone is strong in english

Don't be silly...everyone speaks English ;)

On a more sensible note, I'd recommend the Mobius group if you don't want that kind of interaction.

All you have to watch out for there is psycho NPCs!

I got pirated twice today on my way to that station in yembo hehe.. theuy seem to favour the asp so they have space for there ill gotten gains ;) One interdicted me and said staright away to hold still while he scans me... I did so and in the end negotiated with the said pirate for three tons of palladium so I broke even during that run.. It sure made me excited and careful the rest of the evening taking high routes and comuing in to station fast etc... Just toward end of play I got interdicted again but I submitted this time and by the time he got his don't move or ill shoot out I was charging my fsd with chaff fireing and got clean away in my adder :D I figured being pirated once was fair game but twice and im gonna run like a meatloaf ;) err bat out of hell! :D

personally I think the game would be sooo boring without pirate players

What happened to you isn't griefing, if it happened over and over again, by the same player or players, then you're being griefed. The jokers sitting inside stations blowing everyone up the Combat Logging are griefers, you just met a killer.

On the other hand, the amount of NPC interdictions and the class of ship seems to have been ramped up, even in Group. I am told that by not doing the boost / boost / FSD tactic or deploying hard-points it will just result in a "worthless dog" scan and response, but who wants to find out? :)

I love it when NPCs scan me and ask "How do you make your living?" The two beam lasers fitted to my cobra generally answer that question for me. Along with the bits of their ship floating in space.

Haven't met another player since week two after release. But that's cuz I like living on the edge of know space.

I don't get why most people equate piracy and killing/griefing, I would say griefing/killing is more closely related to bounty hunting than piracy. A lot of bounty Hunters seem to care about the wanted status rather than the cash reward.

I've been attacked tons of times when my bounty was less than 500. Imo its just a socially acceptable form of player killing. I have no doubt that the same guys who kill clean commanders will kill wanted ones regardless of the bounty size.

That's not a griefing. He did this to see your lamentation on the forums...

You are right...
Seems also that certain kind of peacefull 'traders' are able to develop an unjustified amount of hate and anger against people who don't play the game 'how they think it was intended'.
You tell me what is worse?

Trader X:"Let me trade in peace or i'll blow you to bits and hunt you for the rest of your life .... you people are scum and filth...burn burn !!!!

 Say what?

To be honest a lot of the traders in this game seem as strange as the psychos shooting inside stations.

I imagine the traders playing a game of monopoly and then quitting when they land on the oppositions hotel. "What,i have to pay money? I just wanted to play to buy up all the streets!!!"

While the psycho just smashes the board about everywhere and looks impressed with himself.

All while those of us trying to play, pirstes, bounty hunters and brave traders and explorers look on confusedly at the mess.
