Well let me first state that despite my name... i never attacked a human player in 'Elite' (i know it is hard to believe

)
The reason why people try to beat other people in a game is the same reason why multiplayer-gaming was invented...
(and the same reason people used to play board-games with each-other)
All of the sudden there was the internet and people saw the endless possibilities...
Instead of fighting the same stupid AI they could have new challenges... variety...
We have now shooters / rpg's / racing games where people 'game' against people to win.
In 'Elite' a player reaction when getting attacked or when attacking is for some more enjoyable because every encounter is different.
Why is it so hard to understand that some just like a bit of 'non-repetitive action'?
Why is it so hard to understand that everybody human soul on this planet likes to say sometimes: I WON.... YOU LOOSE ?
It just is human nature.. we (as in human species) like competing and we like winning.
Denying this is denying human nature.
Some traders seem to forget this sometimes ... and they label everyone that kills them a 'psychopath' , 'murderer', 'griefer' etc...
Some people just kill for enjoyment... just to say 'I WON'
Some people don't kill to 'grief' ... they play a game just to say i'm good at something: 'I WON'
...and you have to admit it just feels good to say this once in a while.
But why does it feel good to say 'I WON'?
Because our brain is wired this way. Without our urge to display our strength our species would be extinct by now: survival of the fittest (cfr. Darwin)
We just like to show of our strength in all kind of ways.
Some do it by showing their muscles... others do it by displaying their welth... and other people do it by playing games and trying to win.
If your emotions get so screwed up you can't take a 'loss' in a 'game' it is not the responsibility of the other players change their behaviour.
It is 'you' (as in: anyone who feels offended) who has to change your playstyle and make sure your 'emotions' are kept under 'control'
We can all ask for better balance / more options etc... but for the time being we have to take the game as it is.
The amount of hatred i see displayed in these forums against these so called 'griefers' / 'pirates' / 'murderers' is just uncalled and prooves that some people can't make a difference between a game and reality.
People say that killing another CMDR for no reason is the lowest of the lowest...
Well i say there is at least 1 thing that is worst than this:
Hating people who 'kill' for fun is the lowest of the lowest and yet many people fail to see this.
If the devs are against 'pointless' murdering then it is their responsibility to change the ruleset.
We as players 'act' in a 'stage' set by the devs and within this 'stage' we will exhibit our human nature according to the 'rules'.
My point: Don't blame the players but ask FD to change the game if this is not what you like.
