To all complaining traders and pirates: adapt to asymmetric gameplay!

You need to accept it traders (and premier), simples.

I am NOT sorry that you dont have GOD mode.

Play SOLO for GOD mode.

You are missing the point OP. Pirating is NOT possible right now because of the trader HAXS to get away. Traders got a TON of money, they should not grumble as much as they do to feed the food chain, pirates cannot even make a LIVING right now, what is so hard to understand that?

And for all the traders saying ''oh well I will cower off to solo'', then see ya, dont let the door hit you on the way out. If you want immunity from piracy then what is the difference if you leave to solo? I dont care ... BYE!

We will wait until either the 'hardcore traders' stay in or come to open (which they will) or ED balanced it so the 'pitiful' traders dont have a choice anymore other than to go or accept fairness! (and not let the door hit them on the way out).

Trading is so profitable right now, the most profitable thing you can do in the game!!! Why do you think that is? Its so the money can run down the line! Trader > Pirate> Bouty hunter. Grow some.

One thing I would add here is going to private group or solo doesn't escape piracy of course. What it does do though is enable one to avoid the more undesirable element of what some mistakenly wrap under the umbrella of piracy - the obnoxious twerp who insists on simply murdering the trader for the lolz and is not conducting piracy at all. A legitimate way to play mind, but not everyone actually wants to play with jerks and have them dictate the play. You want to criticise the traders then you might also want to take to task the scum who give pirates a bad name as they're the ones traders complain about more so than the legitimate pirates, imo of course.

Oh and to say piracy can't make a living is not strictly true - UNLESS maybe you're targetting players only and ignoring NPCs, in which case I have no sympathy for that sort of pirate at all.

Dont play Console like the WII sorry, thats for non-hardcore. Like Traders QQ'ing, they could sort out drought in the 3rd world contries with their tears.

Ah "QQ" that ridiculous gaming forum term.

Someone who complains on a forum about a game mechanic is fully entitled to do so, insipid attempts to debase that post by using "QQ" are particularly insidious.

You grasp at straws my friend. Certain honest traders have agreed that this is a 'fool proof way' of QQing. Even ED said it was not intended. It will go away soon, and hopfully all of the QQers will too.

Then, we will have a good game. And we will have to build more wells.

As is trying to 'win one over' by quoting a post which I edited 2 seconds later.

I've heard terps removes paint well.

LOL......you STILL don't get it.......you will have an EMPTY game.......you will be left with nothing to hunt but NPCs......pew pew....pew pew pew.........lol.... :D

People say this game is Elite Dangerous so traders should suck it up. When being a pirate stops being the risk-free Easy Mode (as you get to pick your targets and the best armed and shielded freighter is powerless against a fighter and you get to buy your way out of consequences cheaply) we can use this argument.

Piracy and trading both need to be 'dangerous' and carry the same burden of consequences.

And piracy needs to be much more rewarding.

And what have we got now? Traders that demand god mode? What will be the difference? I'd rather be left with a few traders who relise that this is the game, than what we have now, at least its somthing to build upon.

The sooner traders relise that FD is not going to cater 100% to them the better, then a decision can be made, I dont think the game will be devoid of human traders, I really do not.

I hate to be a pedant.

But i guess you mean adapt?

or else your own title says traders ARE very skilled at asymmetric game play.
[h=2][/h]

I didn't say that, anyway you asked:

So aside from the errors in your post, you're using asymmetric to excuse imbalance.

Yes, sorry for the errors. English is not my first language and I tend to get some of the words ("adept" and "adapt") mixed up. I try to proofread most of the stuff I write, but I obviously still make many mistakes. Making errors still is not the same as deliberately just trying to put more emphasis in one's posts buy ending each sentence with a parade of question marks.

BTT: I don't agree with your second remark, that I use asymmetry to excuse imbalance. That was the whole point of my post: there are so many traders and pirates in different threads as well as in this one that just by the number of complainers on both sides, you can see none of the two sides seems to have such an fundamental advantage - bar the already mentioned FSD cool-down exploit.
Again, I don't say the current encounters are perfect or shouldn't be balanced/tweaked or whatever. What I am saying is just that people seem to expect that both play styles (pirate and trader) would have the same means to win a pirate-trader encounter and then complain if it's not the case.

I've stated this before and i state it again... Compare to the real world: Is it common for people driving trucks to be shot in the face and killed and get their cargo stolen? Does this happen once every minute on international highways? No. So why should it happen in civilized systems in ED? I would think that in the future, civilized systems would definitely fight this behaviour.

This is what needs to happen. Being a pirate and murderer should mean that you are shunned by the community, disallowed to dock in ANY civilized system and subject to constant harrassment by powerful AI agencies trying to blow you up. Being a pirate should basically be a choice to stand outside of society and civilized life, and be part of underground activity. So in ED terms, you should be banned in all non-anarchy systems.

This is realistic, while not nerfing the pirates in any way other than revoking their ability to be accepted citizens.

I agree. The things I'm saying right now, do you honestly belive that I dont relise other things that need to happen too?

The whole thing needs balanced, and I think, on your point, that once a pirate always a pirate. Pirates should not be able to change their minds easily once they have trodden the path. I simply think that the first thing that needs to happen BEFORE BALANCING EVERYTHING ELSE, is that traders should relise they make a TON of money, and should stop believeing that nothing bad should ever happen to them.

No worries - it must be tough posting in a second language, I only pointed out Adept as it was pretty central to your argument and thought you could edit your title.:)

Stick to safe systems. I'm a trucker and I have a few turret weapons systems mounted. If I went to more dangerous systems I'd have to outfit with more powerful lasers and torpedoes...

Try Iraq or Afganistan. Good money to be made there but the risks are higher than an M25 run.

No one is going to spend hours on a weekend doing borging Grind to get credits, just to have that time shot away......they may only want credits to buy and Asp to go exploring...but for YOUR fun, they are supposed to play pew pew pew..........

You will NOT GET MORE TARGETS!!!!.......I feel like a hammer hitting a stubborn nail.........again, YOU WILL NOT GET NEW TARGETS!!!...you will just drive people to solo or away from the game completely............if it was "Fair", then fine.....but as it is, a trader ONLY can run.........and now you want to close that off too, so they become a stationary gun target........they wont do it....

For my part? I wont do it either, not even in Solo these days....as Interdictions by NPCs have gone full , so I just bum around in a Viper now...........this "debate" has killed mining, trading, and soon exploring.....for me, I like the combat, its relaxing fun.....others wanting credits, or to grind for bigger ships, solo or walk away.......thats what WILL happen...

Not more targets for you to shoot...instead, no traders in open...........

I actually enjoy writing in English since I like the language and see it as a way to improve my grasp on it. I can't edit the title of the thread, but I'll ask a mod if he can correct the mistake for me.
