Average Pay Per 10 Minutes / Hour

Agreed they need to balance this out a lot better.

Gold Rush (Some places have double profits for a certain time frame)
Bounty Hunting (Needs a buff, fighters have a lot more risk and deserve a lot more)
Mining (Tried this as a new player and instantly went back to trading due to lack of money income)
Exploring (Need to be rewarded a lot more, maybe with the chance to discover a system and it gives you a 2 day income boost or something with a decent trading area to use or something?)
Trading (Seems fine as it is as long as they buff the other things like hunting and mining and exploration)
War (This needs to go up, the fighting is intensive and fun but the reward is so low when you are not only up against good AI but also RL players who can take all your bounty away in seconds)

Personally think fighting should be a little more profitable than anything else as so much more is at risk, while traders are just jumping backwards and forwards with almost no danger...

Eh, I can get almost that in a viper if the RNG (or as I call her, Arrenngie, goddess of random chance) favors me and gives me a lot of assassination missions that day. Probably about 750k/hr if I end up lucky, which really isn't far off the T6 profits.

The real problem is scaling. Trade income scales very well with ship upgrades, while combat income scales very poorly, sometimes even negatively if the increased kill speed is more than offset by increased operating costs.

Word. Repped.

Hi All,

Just wondering if i have cracked the average or good pay wage in Elite as i am currently earning 160,000 per 10 minutes of game play which is 960000 per hour, i guess with time it will go up as i upgrade my trading ship etc.

I really want to rush to an Anaconda but i am guessing that will take months and wont be with me too soon with its super hellish price as i will want to save up to upgrade it and of course have insurance as i could crash it on my first flight lol...

Currently playing around 28 hours a week (4 hours a night) and loving the game!

What are your averages per 10 minutes or hour?

Rad

Hi

Im currently earning 400,000 every 6 mins, working out as 4million an hour

Id just like to put something in perspective

Im flying a clipper (22million base cost) and my estimate for all the upgrades for combat fitting is between 90-150million depending on how hard I want the ship to be

Now look at the anaconda
Base cost 147 million

The upgrades are gonna cost you hundreds of millions

Im not saying don't save for one, but if you make they your sole goal you may fall prey to a huge grind of months of work for it

Perhaps aim for a python or type 9 first so that you have some mini goals to work towards and break up the gameplay every now and then to test new gadgets out that you can afford

Yeah, I agree. This also makes alot of sense. Upgrading your ship and selling your old one gives you more tonnage per run and so more profits per run. Also this gives you the mini goals automatically. Going for the Anaconda with upgrades when you're making 800k an hour in your T6 can seem like a daunting task :)

ATM I'm making about 270k per 8mins on a 116 cargo ASP with 19Ly loaded FSD, which comes out to about 2mil an hour. Find a single jump roundtrip trade route with the stations close to the star and you're golden.

Currently using a Lakon Type 6 and my next upgrade will be to a type 7 then 9 then Anaconda, i am guessing this will take a LONG time...
Consider moving up to the Asp when you have about 12M, trade-wise it's a stepping stone to the T7 and you will make money quicker in it. Some may try to discourage this, but they are wrong and work to deny you the joy of ownership :)

In a T7 (216T) I currently make about 2.5M per hour, over 10 trips. In 10 minutes that's just over 400k. For comparison that is 11.8 kilocrediton/hours ;)

Oh don't get me wrong, i will be upgrading as i go along and dont plan to buy the Anaconda until i have a pretty nice sum in the bank due to upgrades and insurance etc...

I agree with upgrading to the Asp - it's a nice interim ship, and it's a pleasure to fly. I found that it was far quicker to run in than my T6.

However, I reckon you should skip the T7 and go straight to Clipper. A trade Clipper with 228/232 tonnes of space (depending on if you like docking computers - I do) will set you back approx 27m. A T7 with about 204 tonnes will cost you approx 21m. Again, the Clipper is nicer to fly, more adaptable, and faster, so depending, you might get more runs done in it.

From there it seems that the T9 is really the best option, if you're aiming for the Anaconda.

Re T9 .. I'm a long way off getting one, but with the brief beta test for v1.1 we could get one for 100cr!
It was great for cargo. Made 150,000 profit in one trip. that was with no upgrades. but it's a sitting duck in a fire fight.
turret weapons help a bit :)

I'm not sure it matters as long as you have fun. I've found it's quite hard to work out the best way to make profit.
Once you're at the stage you are Rad, it really makes no difference and it just a matter of the time it takes to shuttle back and forth.
Interesting point if distance between to points in same system is quite far, whether it's quicker to hyperspace out to another system, then back in for one leg of the journey? Example system is I-Bootis . Chango Dock is only 200LS(ish) from star, but Mather Station is thousands of LS. It's faster to hyper space to Aulin and back to I-Bootis.
I usually just try to make sure I carry some cargo, no matter when missions I'm doing. I get bored with the grinding, so tend to do just a few cargo runs when funds are short or I want an upgrade. other than that money is not a big issue.

doing around 215-220k / +-10min in a T6 holding 104T cargo

planning the T7 upgrade which should bump me to +-420k / 10 min soon.....should i have a T9, it would be +- 1 million / 10 minute. but i'm still FAR from being able to afford a T9, let's focus on the T7 for now (i expect buying it by friday)

Where are you getting those numbers? im only getting 170k odd per 10 minutes... and cant find close or around me that profits much more!

Type-7, one stop round trip with both stations less than 16ls from the star. Depending on price fluctuations it was averaging 450,000CR for a 12m round trip at full speed and no distractions. Got me to a Python, will soon be in a Type-9 then its major profits, but its always good to take a break and go kill some NPCs to relieve the grind. With a good FSD there's a third system within a two hop reach for another 1,000CR profit per ton coming back to the starting point.

I've made a grand total of 13,000,000cr since the start of Gamma, but I bet my fun per hour might be a bit more than everyone grinding trade routes. ;)

Nah, it's still ~30k for an earth like. +50% if you get the data home first.

I'm having a ball though. I'm seeing amazing sights. And silly sights, like using two moons to get a picture of a gas giant with googly eyes...
Nope, that's a Mickey Mouse planet. You shot it from the wrong angle.

Oh I don't know - as a trucker there is nothing in Elite I like more than trading. Combat is an arcade shooter at best while exploration is just glorified sightseeing. Mining comes in second but only in very small doses - chunks of 64% platinum are very soothing :D

Just goes to show - depends very much on the person as to what is enjoyable.

I notice nobody mentioning mining. Like at all (cept just recently). I assume because of the utterly insane hungry hungry hippo mechanic rather than simple tractor beam.

So what are you trading that you get more than 500cr per ton profit between nearby systems other than rares/luxuries? 32 tons of gold between exporter and importer systems would net me like 16k profit if i'm lucky, and I don't see much in any stations much lower cost vs stations that purchase higher than 500cr. At 16k a trip, I'm wasting credits vs bounty hunting. If i had an asp all trade-oriented i'd still pretty much break even with bounty hunting at 500cr a ton, netting me only 64k a run. So what situation breeds a trade deficit of around 1k cr profit per ton that I haven't come across?

There is a certain thrill I grant you in seeing what profit your latest venture makes. Mining - shudder. Did it for a couple of hours, made 145,000cr, never did it again. Most of my income in the past 6 weeks has been 'glorified sightseeing' ;) (Well actually since 1.1 it's been getting money for the idiots who attack you whilst 'glorified sightseeing'. :D

Not something that interests me in the slightest. Not why i play the game...

Sorry that sounded rude, wasnt meant to be!
