1. Planetary landings
2. Responsive economy (famines, booms, changes in economy, trade to be more intuitive)
3. Automated faction spread (fully reactive background simulation)
4. Main storyline to escalate (major interstellar war!)
5. Thargoids
6. General in-game immersive environment content (more variations on comms, stations, in-game blurb)
7. More ships
8. Wings & multiplayer (including escorts, combined combat, and multiplayer missions)
9. More Missions (and those missions to have more distance / complexities)
10. More stellar objects (comets, protostars, accretion discs, gfx for contact binaries, etc.)

I voted for 6, but add to this 2, 3 and 9

I've said this elsewhere - basically Skyrim in Space. I want to stumble around the galaxy, "oh look another caveOMGTHISISAMAZINGBESTMISSIONEVERNICELOOT". Something that should take me on an adventure with danger, pirates, fun, booze, dancing girls.

At the moment it's either the same grind, the same 1000ly of M-class and T-class stars with an occasional nice stop on the way, or attempt some PvP but find that it doesn't work or if the other person is loosing they log off.

I'm looking forward to being able to walk inside my ship- and deploying smaller ships from my hangar.
 
If it is one thing, then aliens. But a working background sim and just more stuff to do, like additional exploration, mining, and group mechanics are on the list as well.
 
Interesting ... you reading this FD? Nobody (at time of writing) wants more ships!

EDIT: Apologies for giving mining & exploration no love.

Should have been an option for improved mining mechanics (better ways of scooping, identifying deposits, automated miners like in FFE)

and also, for exploring, a way to document the places you'd visited, cash for belts, and exploration-based missions.

this all just makes me realise, there really is a lot of content still to come (hopefully)

I feel the same about planetary landings, a feature that seems very much wished for in this forums. While it may be cool to do the first times and has much potential for awesome eyecandy, I feel more like we should fill the space we have now with more diverse things to do before adding even more space to the game.
 
I voted Automated Faction Spread - for 2 reasons:
1. Because I think that Faction Tensions formed by trying to "spread" into each other's territory is going to be the main content driving force for the game to have lasting appeal.
2. The Galaxy is Huge, seeing humans expanding into that territory is pretty much the only purpose in having such a huge Galaxy in the first place.

Finding excellent Systems and then having the factions compete to claim them - that should be the future of Elite.

EDIT - btw, I think this is a very good poll. It covers a lot of the main areas of the game, and isn't clearly biased. I'd say that it'd be nice if everyone who plays voted in it - but since people in general are very short sighted, maybe it'd be better if the poll wasn't taken too seriously.

A lot more variety in station interiors is currently my number 1.

More stations lower in planetary orbits, asteroid stations, pirate/smuggler bases, dedicated shipyards (i.e. not just part of stations), docking on huge ships and maybe the odd station/outpost in far out systems.
 
as of 70 votes - seems the big thing is in-game content & missions.

Hope FDev take notice - this is the stuff that will keep people playing while they sort the other things: and surely a lot of ingame content would not require massive coding - the frameworks for missions, comms, blurb, station graphics etc. are already there...
