Anyone know its range? Wish there was a ping or something when it completes successfully, but it seems to make the same noise if it does anything or not
And what about the suns? Does it immediately gets all the needed info on the sun you just jumped into? 'Cause I can't see or hear any change.
You have to select the star and point your ship directly to start scanning. If you jumped into the system, immediately stop and start scanning the star when it is selectable.
Oh... thx
EDIT
And if I was the first to jump into the system - without the detailed scan of the star , will I still be "the one who discovered it" regardless of someone else afterwards did the detailed scan?
Each Discovery Scanner has a different range, A Basic Scanners range is 500Lys, Intermediate Scanners range is 1000Lys and Advanced Scanners range will scan everything in the system. A Detailed Scanner only adds extra detail to the scan giving you more credits when you sell your exploration data.

No, you got it backwards. It is the Discovery Scanner you charge and fire from a firegroup. Detailed Surface Scanner works automatically once you're close enough. As do the Discovery Scanners when you scan individual Astronomical Bodies. However the Detailed scanner is an actual used piece of equipment, it isnt passive like the others, and you can charge it up regardless of being anywhere near the target you are scanning, you get a noise on completion and it says "Completed", even if you didnt actually scan it, which has led to my confusion. To be honest it would be nice if they made an obvious difference between the scan finishing, and the scan actually scanning something, or just dont allow it to scan nothing, or things too far away.
