Griefing NPCs

Honestly! I'm 500ly from the edge of Human habited space in the Musca Dark region and I'm being interdicted for cargo by NPCs!
Surely a simple bit of game logic could cut this rubbish out!
I get interdicted by pirates who simply shouldn't be there. They immediately demand my cargo. I have no cargo bays so I can't give any then they open fire after 1 second!
Even if I had cargo give me a bloody chance to press the button.
It really is ruining exploration for me at this point.

I have and AFM. But it's down to half units remaining and I keep getting battered by NPC tools.

Why not just submit, boost and SC? I've been interdicted most of the afternoon and they've never managed to take the outer ring down before I'm a vapour trail
 
I guess that most people would agree that the Game's NPC AI programming could be improved.
The present NPC AI programming reminds me of games ten years ago.
Well, lets wait and see what is still to come.

Hit 'x' to submit. 4 pips in engine, 2 in sys. Hit 'tab' to boost. Hit 'J' to supercruise.

Assuming you have even the lowest possible shield fitted to your ship (any ship), no NPC interdiction will ever be a threat to you again.

Oh and one more thing: when anyone interdicts you - be it player or npc - and then tries to kill you, it isn't griefing. It's murder. A legitimate form of gameplay (source). NPC's even have a dedicated "psycho" AI, just like they have a pirate, bounty hunter, and trader AI. It's part of the game, and it isn't griefing.
 
I know it's not griefing. NPC's can't do that sort of thing but it's bloody irritating, they seem to have some significant firepower too I often nearly lose shields entirely before supercruising away.
 
Another thing about this that I've found irritating is that it's an eagle or sidewinder that's several hundred ly from the nearest starport, and they don't even have a fuel scoop equipped. :rolleyes:

A perfect example of what I keep seeing, it's hardly a tricky issue to stamp out. As soon as I enter a system is the nearest star port more then 50ly away? Then don't spawn a pirate. I don't mind seeing. NPC's exploring, that makes some sense but this is just ridiculous.
 
Sounds like a pretty serious bug, NPCs aren't supposed to spawn more than 400LY out of inhabited space, if I remember right.
