Shot to hell by Imperial Clipper without warning !

Proper angry:mad:

Found myself a nice little plot of uncharted space - metal rich with silver and god knows what all over the shop.

Made a few CR and then upgraded my ship to a spangly cobra.

Noticed that I'd managed to rack up about 5-6k of exploration data in the process (and still had about 8 other unexplored area's) - so decided to do a full map out and earn some mega Wonga off that as well.

So there I am supercrusing around when out of nowhere an Imperial Clipper interdicts me. Hmm...

Next thing I know, no warnings or anything its full on beam weapons blasting and my ship is a teabag - cockpit shot to hell, 2% hull, emergency suit oxygen and the fluffy dice are smoking bits of nothing.

Manage to limp back to a station - 1km out and the O2 does a vanishing act on me and I'm sucking in space dust (primarily made out of my now exploded ship).

Got insurance so not all is not lost but I have lost all the exploration CR I had which is proper annoying.

What gets me though is why the clipper attacked in the first place (I have no wanted level, though was in anarchy space) - and also, why did it not finish me off? - just blasted me into a floating wreck and then buggered off. And at no time did it give any warnings - which makes me think this was probably not an NPC but another player, though bizzarely they didn't show up as such.

NPC or not ?

No way of knowing unless you recorded it. This is why I run shadowplay so I can record the last 20 minutes at any given point. All I can say is, I fly a Clipper and it wasn't me, so that starts to narrow it down a bit for you? ;)

There are maniac NPCs out there who just kill for the fun. AFAIK FDEV wants to implement stealing of exploration data, might be that those NPCs will do that once it is implemented.

He maybe didn't finish you because he got interrupted by local authorities.

If he didn't show as a CMDR he was most likely a NPC.

Go Clipper, Go Clipper, go, go, go.
It wasnt me either, I would have finished to job I started. Sounds like an NPC.

It happens. Might have been a pirate that wanted to pick up anything you carry after you explode. But I've head this happen even when not carrying anything.
Just boost away and FSD...or turn around and fry the sucker (and collect bounty)

NPCs do it all the time. They pop up out of nowhere and interdict you. Sometimes they ask for cargo before shooting but I've never seen them scan me unless I find them in a USS, so they just attack.

I've always used Fraps as I bought it some time ago, but it doesn't seem to have been updated in ages.

This looks perfect as you can't tell Fraps just to bin older files that have nothing interesting in them - cheers! Rep. incoming.

Yeah, I've had NPCs shoot me unprovoked after interdicting. They have defined barks depending on whether they're pirates, psychos or coppers, so just keep an eye on the comms.
Unless you're bounty hunting, your best bet is just to submit then use boost as soon as you enter normal space, even if it's coppers. You don't get a fine for fleeing.

Yeah, them's the weird ones: "All I want is your cargo." no scanning for cargo, no time to react (and no cargo :)): "So, you choose death then." :S

In an anarchy the NPC Clipper would read as "clean" unless you scanned it with a KWS to establish bounty elsewhere.

Likely he was a pirate. Why he gave up? Who knows?

Shadowplay comes with a caveat: bloatware called "GeForce Experience". If you're okay with that, the Shadowplay is great.

Yeah, I was out "Exploring" last night.........400ly out....so not deep "No NPC" space......but even so......200LY from civilisation.....and Every Single Star I jumped to, had an NPC............and I was interdicited about 50% of the time..........however, I am in an Explorer War Cobra, so was not too worried...even so...I took some hits and hull damage.......I was carrying no Cargo....and again, was 200ly from civilisation and there were NPCs around EVERY star............no subtlety........every star.........on/off yes/no......1 or 0..............no gray........

..

And if they go an nerf is so that Pirates have some tin cans to shoot at....they are going to kill every other career (Trade, Miniing, Exporing) in this game, trying to make the Utterly broke Cath-22 Pirating "work"........all that will be left is another empty PvP shooter......

I don't understand how you can call software that informs you the moment there is an update for your gfx drivers and enables you to upload directly to Twitch without having to use a 3rd party program (bloatware?) or automatically record the last (up to) 20 mins of gameplay for you to save whenever you want or manually record for however long you want in full resolution with little to no performance loss bloatware... It seems some people's definitions of bloatware are a bit... unrealistic.

Glad to be of assistance, enjoy Shadowplay, it's a great tool. As is Geforce Experience ( forget the daft name ;) )

Now you're mixing things up.

If one could install the Shadowplay as standalone, I would love it - Shadowplay has these nice options of saving up to 20 minutes of footage recorded prior to your keypress etc.. But it is bundled with Geforce Exprerience, which I don't need or want on my system. That makes the Geforce Experience bloatware or almost malware in my eyes. Your opinion may vary. :)

I'm not mixing anything up. It's an integral part of the package. I don't subscribe to the term "bloatware" to be honest.

I like Geforce Experience myself so my opinion does vary, but that's ok we can agree to disagree :)

Back on topic for me, I haven't been interdicted for a LONG time, not even a sidewinder let alone a Clipper. It's quite disappointing really as I've got four beam lasers waiting for them. Maybe they know? Hmm...

Me either, which is weird since so many seem to be whining about it. I even slowed down a few times trying to be interdicted.
