What comes after 1.2?

After Frontier finishes 1.2 what comes next? What do they have planned for 1.3?

Yea, hopefully cookies :p but what do you think people want to be in 1.3?

Personally?

Mission overhauls, NPC comms and NPC wingmen you can hire. Maybe passenger gameplay?

In terms of graphics I'm hoping for more variation to stations and enviroments, maybe comets might finally get an visual representation! :cool:

in 1.3 they will begin perm banning players who are exploiting the game with ram hacking and those that disconnect when interacting with either NPC's or players.
Transferring money between players and npcs is going to be implemented and will be another way to get pirated.
Additionally, the AI for npcs will be reworked to behave more in line with their various roles. This means pirates interdict large trade vessels, more than other ships, but nobody is safe now that cargo isn't the only thing to steal from ships.
Players will no longer be able to move between modes with a single character, they will have the option of having up to 2 characters, one for open and one for the other two modes.
Players will be able to join factions and help spread it's influence.
Stations will be destroyable
The Anaconda will have a small docking bay that the player can switch to and pilot.
Cargo scoop will be replaced by tractor beam turret. NPCS will be retrofitted to utilize it rather than teleportation.

Coinciding with this release, the forum rules will be changed and anyone complaining about how death should be cheaper or "no loss" are banned from posting for 60 days.

None of this is real.
 
What will be in 1.3? First, the absolute certainties:-

  • Nerfs - OP stuff will be lowered in power. The forum will be awash with righteous indignation. "You took away may hard earned toys/you didn't nerf it enough! You ruined my game FD!"
  • Buffs - Stuff that were not used because of being deemed under-powered will be improved. The forum will be awash with righteous indignation. "You didn't buff it enough/You buffed it too much!! You ruined my game FD!"

Now getting purely speculative.

  • New ships - The Eagle Interceptor from space 1999. Overpowered and deadly, cost 20 quazillion credits and minor hull damage could bankrupt a super-power. The Heart of gold from H2G2. The ultimate explorer, goes anywhere in space so long as you don't care where that is. As long as its some where infinitely improbable.
  • Galactic hyperdrive - Clearly we have to go hunting the Thargoids.
  • Stuff - Other radical stuff. Only it's probably not, and the forum will be awash with righteous indignation.
 
For 1.3

2 or 3 more Ships and comets and Asteroid stations.
Lots of bug fixes.
Some UI fixes changes.
Full damage simulation, so sensors can become disabled, HUD flickers, shields can actually fail to recharge and energy distributor is damage take longer to switch between different systems and so forth. Work already started on this, so I presume it was left on the scrap heap floor to be pick up in the future.

Not sure what will be in 1.4, probably some ships, may be NPC communications, system map update.
1.5-2.0 will probably be more backfilling of DDA features that was left out of the release version and preparing for Elite: Deadly addon.
