- Upgrade your sensors to A class, gimballed weapon accuracy (wobble) depends on sensors.
I would ditch gimbled all together.
Agreed 100%. I've got the weapons already, and they work just fine! I'm still working on getting a few of the modules up to A, though.I would ditch gimbled all together.
2 fixed beams on the medium slots, the Cobra is manuvarable enough to use fixed beams. On the small mounts I have gimbled cannons (MC's have better DPS true, but I use cannons on high value targets and only up close and personal, so DPS isn't an issue).
Get as meny A class mods as you can afford. (cept for life support, the D variant is lighter and gives you additional time).
Let me see.
- Upgrade your thrusters to A class, this will drop your mass somewhat and give you even more agility.
- Upgrade your sensors to A class, gimballed weapon accuracy (wobble) depends on sensors.
- Change your pulse lasers to beams, your power plant can support that and deal a lot more damage.
What ships are you after? I generally find that small targets just die only using beams, and equip something that punches above its weight in the class 1 points such as dumbfires or rails, but only for bigger targets (and of course, you can't run 2 x beams and 2 x rails due to power issues). The Cobra is a bit lacking like that...
Stick a 'D' module in your life support, lighter and give you more airtime.
Leave the small hardpoints empty; even with gimbals their ability to keep on target is limited and with just two Class 2 weapons I can run an A3 powerplant that's lower cost and weight, with fixed weapons you can fix D grade sensors and life support, also sell the D scanner (2 tons) unless you intend to go exploring.
