Vulture available in 1.2? So three new ships altogether?

lol really? no compensation? oh wow.

I'm not talking about financial compensation.

But more something like "We've made a mistake in the last newsletter, to make apologies, we will release some infos about Federal Corvette specs". Or implementing something which wasn't planned in 1.2, a little thing... I don't know.... Marketing teams are good at this ? No ? Or they are just making mistake they think nobody will notice it ? And nobody in FD noticed it........

I think a lot of people are upset because of the 5 ships the premium backers get to choose 1 from. I doubt they will put the Corvette in that list. It is too much of a OP ship to give people for free.

Vulture and Fer-De-Lance, so one brand new ship design along with an updated classic.

No corvette, no big deal as we'll be getting more updates after Wings 1.2 and at least we have a good hint that it might be the Corvette in 1.3 or later, also makes me wonder what's going on with the Panther Clipper.

I doubt the devs want to even give a ballpark figure, if they aim internally for 1.3 for the Corvette and it slips someone will complain about broken promises...

EDIT: I have actually used the ignore function for the first time.

I think we should all come to learn that speculation will drive everyone mental and FD won't release any specs up until the last minute. We have a cockpit but no exterior shot of the Vulture. We have an exterior shot of the FdL but no cockpit shot. Specs are also unconfirmed for both. And the Corvette won't be in 1.2. That's about as much as you'll get until the 1.2 Beta test patch and a dev note from Michael the day before.

YES!!! Vulture win, HAHAHA feds! My reign of terror shall continue (sorry this really made my day I wanted vulture :p)

I'm just feeling sorry now for Frontier, I've got passed the anger and upset part I had been feeling.

I remember when we all used to be excited for the newsletter coming out - Friday became an event around here and on twitter. Newsletter would land, we'd all go wild at the new stuff.

I think it started when they showed off the Cobra wireframe, then a few weeks later announced it was a crisp £10 to buy it.

The pre-release newsletter announcing offline was removed. Ever since then, the newsletters tend to have one or two nice things, but overall the biggest thing is they create more confusion and doubt among players. And when they have nothing to say they fill it with stories like the one this week about their jolly day out (as someone pointed out - maybe it was research for the upcoming expansions? Maybe - but then it says they were invited, so did they put out a call to be invited?). I imagine few of us cared much, I certainly just skipped over it.

And don't get me wrong I do appreciate my video being included in it - it's good marketing for FD when I get around 25,000 views a video about now and on average 4-5000 views across them all a month.

But I think the newsletters have come to the end of their usefulness for the majority of the community. Frontier seriously need to consider moving to a dev diary blog format, and Michael's dev posts need to have a lot more in them. I think this week was a good one - but if it included pictures and some more details on the ships this would keep a lot of people happy and go a long way to improving Frontier's relations with the players here.

Why are you taunting me ? Did I hurted you ?
Seems like I'm once again in a trolls nest. See ya.

Let's bear in mind not everyone on this forum speaks english as their first language.

Starkeeper: Compensation is generally used to mean a payment or other benefit given to someone to make up for damage they have suffered. I suspect that is not what you intended.

come on back in teh water's fine.

Who cares about Corvette and Panther Clipper anyway? Both will have completely over the top ridiculous pricetags and only be available to a miniscule percentage of the population.

To be honest I even expect FdL and Vulture to be somewhat pricey. FdL because of it's "luxury" and Vulture because of it's performance.

100% agree on both points. Weekly newsletters when there's no real meat to them were passé in the late 2000s, for any company not just a games dev studio. FD seem hell bent on remaining in the past. And when I read the jolly boys day out I seriously wondered why they did that and whether DB really thought through the negative impact (or whether the marketing dept did)

Dev diary/ video/ blog, call it what you will but FD need to move to another format quickly, but not only that actually fill it with content about development and what the team are really working on. If they just switch formats to produce the same nonsense as today then I'd dare say even the White Knights would ignore them over time.

Please FD, change how you treat communicating to the player community, change it fast and change who is responsible for producing it.

I wouldn't mind knowing how the option to choose a FREE ship will work (for beta backers), considering not all are going to be available.

  • free access to one of the 5 new ships when it’s released!

Which was also clarified as FREE as in it won't cost credits.

It means that you won't have to pay in-game credits for them, like the free Eagle in the mercenary edition.
