There is a lot of things that they can do that doesn't involve ditching p2p. I've pm staff linking to step by step methods of how a lot of different cheating is done and submitted tickets. I guess we'll see how important it is.

Manipulating the market is pretty visible and risky. And giving yourself more cargo than you purchased doesn't work because the adding and removal of cargo is synced from server. At least according to the cheaters.

I seem to recall that the cargo synch to the server was done back in the alpha, when the first hackers disclosed themselves. FD apparently did some stuff then to obfuscate the data held in memory to make it harder to hack. So I find all this talk of very easy hacking most strange. Did FD simply take all that stuff out? Was it not really effective anyway? Did they forget the message they had learned? Are the hackers exaggerating the claims of what they can achieve? It all makes very little sense to me.

Are you here for the moustache completion?
I'd say my moustache beats Kim's gel stained hair by a long shot

Message sent. I'd recommend reading a number of pages instead of just the directly linked. it's kind of crazy what they've been able to get away with (because some of the stuff are things you'd only think would exist on single player games)
Curious, do they actually have video proof of their exploits on those sites or just tall tales?

They're not that stupid, unlike some of the kids who posted videos of themselves shooting ships inside stations etc.

They are doing things like running two instances of the client, with low level ships with turrets sitting in conflict zones 'farming' credits, whilst afk. The ships are hacked not to lose shield and have a damage multiplier of x100, along with many other things.

There could also be another possibility, and that is this person could be working with a group, you could theoretically have people bring you stuff from other systems, drop out of FSD near the station but not enough to be fined for littering, have then release(abandon) cargo and ferry it back sub light between the station and drop zone.

I have done it with a friend before on a delivery mission, maybe not on that scale but it could be done.

Have you ever tried to scoop up large numbers of cargo cannisters? Do you know how long it would take to fill a Type 9 that way? You would just about have time to get to the core and back.

not if you use the line technique, though this does require a bit of choreography. but the basic principle is that the unloader cruises at about 15-20(kph?) and unloads his cargo, normally the first can spawns under the scoop and additional scans spawn in a cloud around the person, however because you are moving, as each can is unloading, the area under the scoop is clear so they drop like the first can, and you create a line. All the person behind has to do is line up his scoop with the line and scoop up the cans as they roll into the cargo scoop.

Now, I will admit I haven't even attempted to do it on THIS kind of scale, but I've done with a buddy of mine and we can get delivery missions done really fast this way.

Community Goal....Yawn.
Really important who wins? .... Errrr....Not if you are studiously ignoring this nonsense and not participating in it.

Sir, Sir...the fat boy in the corner is cheating Sir. LOL.

Community goals is like the ultimate carrot on a stick. People think they are gonna get something at the end but really they are just grinding trades lol.

Even though I'm not participating in this event and I'm not even that proficient of a hauler, I feel your pain, OP. This kind of nonsense can be soul-crushing. You're doing the good work while some comes along and - ZOINKS!

It's obviously an exploit, all the evidence seems clear enough and if your evidence is clear, no further speculation is required.

It could very well be multiple instances again..

Still not at tier 1?
It's at tier 1 now, and it's considerably less than Yembo.

scooping one canister out of 204,000 every 5 seconds, which would be absolutely amazing, would take 283 hours.

I bet 1CR there will be nothing done, and no rollback, and no historical witch hunt.

Exactly the opposite of buying ships at the founders world back in December.

Go FDEV!

Well, I don't think that's the case. Do some research, perhaps?

That's a good point, i also thought it was a guild working together to claim the "prize" for first contributor (if they are in game yet). Im still not placing my bets on hacks, it would just be incredibly dumb. The server/game does shady things sometimes, it could just be lag or even a bad number.

I'm missing something in this thread.

Has anyone thought of to contact said commander, and plain and simple ASK him about this ?

Didn't the same thing happen at Yembo? could have sworn the top guy had like half a billion tonnes.

Top one had around 150k tons hauled in... If this new community goal(?) ends up to have cheaters, then devs have to check other CGs as well, to correct possibly askewed results. I worked really long hours to get to top 3 in Yembo and if it turns out there was someone cheating there as well, then these CGs are a total waste of time.

Then again, look at any online game with global leaderboards. Top players are almost always cheaters (stat padders). I guess they have their own competition going on. Showing off which cheat is the most effective at accomplishing a given task...

Interesting to say the least, but there could be some legit explanation.

For example, it could well be a numerical error on the feed.
Or there could of been a delay in updating this.

Nevertheless, it's still a bit iffy.

I'd suggest creating a ticket with the screenshots, and say you found a bug, where the community goal is reporting incorrect numbers.
And see what they say from there.

As always making a thread on the forums is NO guarantee that it will come to the attention of the right people (devs).
Ticket any bugs and suspicious activities and let FD analyse their data and decide.

I have no problem with a lot of trust given to the clients, since there are benefits to this. This of course means you need GM staff and swift and severe punishment for people who abuse this trust.

Nothing is being suppressed, the excellent moderator staff of this forum has obviously seen this thread, as they've posted in it, and not closed it. I'm certain this wouldn't have gone this way on Blizzards forum. It speaks volumes about the quality of this site that we can openly discuss suspicious activity in this way as long as no "how-to"s or player names are posted.

The names of the suspicious players have not been named once, even though everyone can see them on E-ffingers Port local GalNet, in case they're innocent. So where's the suppression?

and the KoolAid is delicious too!
