Elite: Cheat galore

Just read this forum and you will see the truth behind the community goals cheats. Doesn't even took Google too much effort to show me the way, just google "elite cheats" and you will be astonished.

Read all the pages and you will see how they mock this community and evolved the hacks since early development.

Who cares?

And if you hate having people cheat, why would you link that forum here so that more people can learn how to cheat?

This will affect the game a lot till it is fixed, so "who cares" is a rather inane answer. Would you care if some viper activates invincibility and kills your anaconda/python/clipper in one shot?

Who said that I hate them???? Do you take me for granted? I'm just bringing this to light. It's not a matter to learn how to cheat, it is a matter to know what is going on.

Then I'm banned. I will not regret it.

Yup.

What I think you should do is to report this in a private message to a moderator or a Frontier Developer (Michael Brookes for example).

Posting it here will just make it easier for people to find the cheats, it won't make Frontier more aware of the problem (this thread might not be read by them).

So by posting it here, you actually made the problem worse, I think.

I dont really care about those rules you know, if I'm to blame for this I dont really care. I just hope they fix this thing because it's really sad the way this game is at the moment

I suspect that the Mods / FD will remove the link.

That aside bringing it to the attention of the masses kind of forces FD's hand - either they fix the problem (how, no idea) or they accept it.

So... I deleted the link, sorry if I didn't knew the forum rules but I was just disgusted by what I read and I needed to share this.

Thanks! Ya, the cheats are pretty prevalent. Unfortunately. I hope they'll be addressed but in the meantime, the only way to avoid these people as far as I know is to play solo. I'm thinking about joining a group, that might work too.

The group in question would be "Mobius" - PvE group that's full of players who are unlikely (though possible) to cheat.

Sent a PM to Michael / Sandro with the link.

1. FD isn't stupid as alluded to in the first post of the thread on that site.
2. Any serious blackhat site wouldn't have it's presense known to Google or any other search engine.
3. This problem is as old as the internet.

1. ED is, AFAIK, FD's first venture into MMO territory so they have a lot to learn. Definitely not stupid though. (Look at ED - it's lovely !!)
2. Game hacking isn't really that serious a thing. The worst that can happen is your client / account becomes banned, so most hacking groups don't care about remaining anonymous, more so if there is profit to be made (some cheats cost money!)
3. Indeed it is :)

You know what is the problem? With community goals the game changed quite a lot from the perspective of "cheaters don't affect solo play", the fact is they do affect by possibly changing results in the top contrubutors. I'm Really not a "no life gamer", and I know I cannot be the top 5, but the fact that I have good reasons to believe that the top 5 are cheaters bothers me to a new level of dissatisfaction.

Ya, the cheats are not faked. They are real, they are easy, they are obvious when seen... like what I saw in my 2nd week of gameplay. I was an open player.

I have not been an open player since that day. I hope to return though :)

That's sad. The problem is that, even open play isn't safe from the cheaters 'cos they are possibly altering the outcome of community goals and thus hurting your gameplay. If the game were offline we could just play with our client and not brag about it, but it is not.

The longer the cheaters go unpunished, the more unjust it is. These cheats (one google search away) have been active since launch, according to the most popular thread, currently.

I gotta say, seeing early backers falsely accused and punished (for founders-world-gate), while these public cheaters continue to exploit with no consequences? NOT COOL. Not even a little bit.

Makes me happy to be over 2000LY from Sol, though.

They don't even try to hide it putting up numbers that isn't even possible in the time frame. FD needs to ban these players asap.

Agreed on all points! And, IF the game were offline, I would also have the tremendous feeling that what I bought will last me forever and not just until they shut down the servers. Then, I probably would play online even with the cheaters whilst the game was living and then play the heck out of the offline mode for the a decade or two like I did the first Elite :)

But I shouldn't derail your thread too much. Anyhoo, the cheating really is bad and from what some smart-sounding posters have said in this forum, it might be a technical nightmare for devs to try to stop due to the P2P nature of the system. Apparently, most of the cheats or at least a great deal of them come from changing client-side values that FD can't control. So I'm not to encouraged that it even could be stopped.
