NPC Silent Run?

I out fitted a cobra to try bounty hunting at advanced levels, engaged an npc python master worth 90k, when he got to 85 hull he disappeared when he flew past, I didn't get a surge detected warning or anything, just instantly disappeared.

Im loaded for bear...FSWS...FSDI...KWS etcc..using 2 class 2 gimble MC and 2 class 1 gimble beams, but gonna change the gimble beams to fixed, because I've got good aim and its better for bigger ships plus they are close together.

It's obvious, NPCs are combat logging.

PS Yes, people have actually accused me of combat logging when I just used silent running.

Maybe. There's been something strange going on for a while now. I've been interdicted by invisible NPCs that don't show up on my radar before the interdiction begins. I've wondered about NPCs using silent running before the interdiction but I can't seem to get an answer one way or the other. Or whether other players have had this issue as well and if it's intended or a bug. Very strange either way and I'm anxious to find out.

If I am not mistaken they would need to be in SC in order to interdict you, and silent running is not a option in SC. But I have seen cases where I fail to evade interdiction and nobody was there, not often though....

..... then again I rarely lose interdictions.

I've had this happen to me, only yesterday in fact. Nothing on the scanner, quite close to dropping out of SC at the station, interdicted by NPC. I tried to escape it, nearly had it then - bam, lost it. The NPC went on to destroy my ship despite me dropping cargo. So yes, NPC's interdict out of nowhere and sometimes you can't fight the interdiction.

As to whether it's a bug or working as intended, I don't know. If a bug, I imagine it's a low priority one as it's just another interdiction despite the lack of warning beforehand, and it doesn't really impact on the gameplay. It's not playing by the rules, but it's no biggie.

Wait till the Thargoids get here, not only will they hijack your inter-system jumps and pull you out of SC with no warning, but they'll hide in your underwear drawer waiting for that unsuspecting pilot who needs to change his smalls after a close run in with the Mother Ship...

Yeah, I didn't believe they could interdict in SC either but there's certainly nobody on my radar when the interdiction begins. I've also heard of the nobody there issue that you mention and it's common for sure.
I tend to watch my radar religiously for ships tailing me or incoming fast (usually jumping all over the radar before the get behind me) but sometimes there's simply nothing there when the mini games starts. I've thought bug and maybe I should ticket it but I'd like to get conformation from other Cmdrs before I do. Would be nice to hear of others having the same problem.
For what it's worth it sometimes happens after I pass a USS. It's not all the time but it's enough to make me question what's happening. It's gotten to the point that when I see a USS approaching I expect an interdiction. I've started submitting now and the ship is in the instance afterward but sometimes there's no radar return beforehand.

NPC have the tendency to leave from USS when you just pasted it and they will automatically interdict you. If you see USS in front of you, divert a bit away from it to prevent this from happening. USS don't show up in radar, btw.

Thanks for the conformation. The first couple of times it happened I thought I was nuts. Then it got too frequent to be my old age catching up to me. And you're right, it's no big deal so I'll let it ride and hope 1.2 update brings a fix (probably related to the nobody there issue Jack Schmit mentioned above).
Also, I kind of welcome the Thargoids because at least there will be something to play for and something to fear in this game. Even if it's just dreading running into them. Pretty boring right now even if I do enjoy the game immensely. Need's more content badly. Thanks.

Ahh, that makes sense and I sort of suspected that was what was happening in regards to the USS's. And I'll try what you suggested and see if that helps.
Edit: I should have also mentioned that I knew about no radar return on the USS. Thanks for the advice anyway.
