Trading in an Anaconda v a Type 9

If you need a break from the grinding just take your shiny new Anaconda to some USS sites and melt every wanted ship there to increase your combat ranking. I've only ever been interdicted 5 times in my Anaconda and those were 4 Anaconda's and a Federal Dropship.

great advice guys, now a proud owner of the Anaconda. Although im not too keen on the lengthy bonnet ;')

I'm a huge fan of the T9, flew it for months & mastered the heavy inertia. The view is stunning from the bridge. Reluctantly I bought an Anaconda after losing 11mill to a cmdr in Yembo looking to disrupt operations and destroy any freighters.

I absolutely love the Anaconda now, it feels like you are on the bridge of giant warship when viewed in the rift, it's tough as nails, nobody will interdict you, getting into fights with other large ships is just an insane heavyweight brawl.

Spent 220 mil so far and still have a bunch of stuff to upgrade, it's not cheap, but even near stock it feels powerful. I can drop out of warp at the star, and sit there with 400T of gold in my cargo without fear of a cmdr trying to interdict me. In my T9 I was constantly checking my nav display for targets.

I'm on my 2nd day trading in an anaconda. Made over 20 mil already. I upgraded from a python to a type 9 but soon switched back as I found it easier to make money using medium pads and I could fight back any interdictions in the python.
I was apprehensive about going into a larger ship again but I took the plunge and I must say I'm loving it. My anaconda set up for trading has a 35ly range unladen and 20+ly laden. It's great for moving from system to system in search of the next 'big score'.
Im playing in solo so I have stripped all weapons, have 2 chaff launchers, 6 point defence(no weight) , A6 fsd, a4 power plant, a4 shields, a4 fuel scoop and a6 power distributor(faster boost recharge). The other systems I missed are D class. In total I have 436 cargo and I have a 2.5k, 2 jump, 27ly trip. I know there are better routes out there and I'm constantly searching. My 3k route dried up a few days back :(
Have fun in your new ship, I know I am.
Shalzarr...

You can also squeeze an anaconda past most ships NPC's that are crawling out the middle of the docking slot where as the T-9 needs to wait. :)

I do not need to wait for anything but another T9, all others, include Anacondas can just be pushed out of my way :)

Even with lower cargo... i won't step back to T9 from my 'Conda.
It's just more fun to fly and opening routes that were slightly annoying with the T9...
Travelling between routes is not a pain anymore.

And i won't upgrade it... i'll buy a second one for other purposes ;)

How is the Anaconda compared to the Python in trading aspect? I'm in a Python for weeks now but cant decide if I should change to an Anaconda. The Anaconda has ca. 60% more cargo than a Python, but cant dock at outposts and is slower and less manoeuvrable. I spend ca. 70% of my playtime in trading and 30% in combat. Should I go for the Anaconda? Or wait for 1.2? Or stick with the Python? I dont know what to do:(

Don't buy a ship unless you have a purpose for it. Anaconda will out-trade Python due to cargo capacity, but unless you have a good station to station route, the Anaconda is just going to be an expensive paperweight to you. And optimize your loadout for your route. For example, I'd rather lose a couple Ly jump range to arm myself to the teeth, but not if it costs me an additional jump.

What is a good setup to trade in an Anaconda, and cost? I only need 13Ly, and will be playing in solo until I get the hand of this ship.

Also ships as small as an Asp can mass lock a T9. Nothing mass locks an Anaconda, and NPCs don't really interdict Anacondas either. You get interdicted in a T9 about 3 times as often and it will usually be a Python or Anaconda, they can potentially mess you up before you escape. You still get Pythons and Anacondas when you are in one of your own but not as often and you can easily escape or destroy them.
How can an Asp masslock a T9? Isn't it a 1000t ship?

Also I was interdicted by an NPC Eagle pirate twice yesterday while flying my Anaconda. Stupid pirates...

Hi all, im just on the verge of being able to afford a basic outfitting of an Anaconda and an looking to switch from my Type 9. Would trading be quicker in the Anaconda, and would the beneft be immediately obvious. This is the suggested layout in the link below with ~ 170 mil credit in total. Any advice appreciated

I'd suggest a fuel scoop in there.

I also wouldn't downgrade the shield as some others have suggested; seen far too many spontaneously exploding anacondas posted on here where it turns out they had a lower shield class fitted...

I got an A4 fitted, and it kept me safe from most harm. I even survived boosting inside a station, just, but survived.

Scoop shouldn't be required with the cost of fuel being pennies.

Also I grazed an internal structure in a station in the 'conda, not enough to show on the shields, not enough to even change direction of the ship... But 60% hull. oO
Whaaa?
Really does not like bumps or scrapes.

So I now have a bigger power plant and 6 x Shield boosters, still with an A4 shield tho.

Actually running an A4 shield with 6 A0 shield boosters is way stronger than an A7 shield in a Conda (my config). You just need a bigger reactor than normal which isn't a big deal, so you get more cargo and stronger shields which is win-win.

Trading community goals.

I'm only doing these now. With an Anaconda that's a few trips to get top 5%, then cash out at the end of the week. Due to the jump range, I can get goods from 90 LY away and still come back with fast routes.

That means I am getting the demanded commodities at good prices while everyone else is fighting for med to low scraps within 40 LY of the system.

Aren't shield boosters +20%, so 5 would be enough to double your shield capacity? Do they need to be recharged/take ammo?

I would say wait until you have 200mil before buying the Anaconda.

Cargo is less on Anaconda but range is better and overal travel is quicker + more capable of defending itself.

Anaconda feels positively nippy after flying a t9 :)

Depending on the combat rank of the owner. If the owner is harmless... oh, boy... lol

You can't pirate condas unless your in a conda (mass lock), combat rank's irrelevant, I have just as much chance of finding a brilliant pilot at novice as I do at dangerous/deadly/elite

Like short of a wing that contains a conda, you are basically immune to piracy or pvp in general in a conda, you can immediately leave any fight - and boosters provide so much shielding nobody can do any hull damage before you jump out anyway, not that hull damage costs anything anymore.

Prior to boosters and repairs I used to pirate condas, as I could reliably do 20-50% hull in the waiting for short FSD cooldown so it was financially prudent for them to drop instead, however since boosters & cheap repairs I've not really tried.

Yes exactly, no ammo required they just increase shield strength. Roughly A4 shield + A0 booster = A5 shield.

I'll have to check that out then, thanks. Anything that saves cargo space for more profit (without losing shield strength) has to be a bonus.
