I don't think you are necessarily wrong but those paying more feel more entitled generally speaking and it is surely in CIGs financial interest to keep the current model. Why pay more if you don't have to would be most people's response IMO

Mother of god....the Orion has been released. And it's beautiful...

Heh, avoiding combat will be fine in the PU, after all I'm much more a trader / explorer in ED myself (Mostly Harmless, Merchant, Pathfinder). However, to complain about combat in a combat test module (albeit with a bit of racing) is silly :p!

A logical thinking person can assess when and where is the best location to avoid combat is. But the majority of gamers are not logical thinking and they will waste ships and material in combat if combat if easy. That is going to be the growing problem with SC. Initially CR stated that he wanted players to feel ownership and value for their ships, that will not be the case given the current setup planned where insurance payouts will be quick. There have been polls done asking how quickly players would like their ships replaced. The majority of responses equated to quick respawns without penalty. Players basically want to be able to jump right back into the fight with their favorite gunship and rush back into the fight like they would any other casual level game they would play.

As for your other comment well that is your opinion and should be left at that. Much of what is seen in the combat test module is going to end up in the PU. I have seen what happens when you don't complain about something that is clearly wrong early on. It never gets looked at and reviewed and typically when people make statements similar to the one you did it is because they are hoping it is left in and not addressed. I can see how easy level combat would benefit most people and that is rarely a good thing in what is supposed to be a skill based game. Experience has shown me that anything that slips through the cracks into Beta from Alpha, takes an act of Congress to get changed when needed. And lets be real here, we have gone from 0.8 to 1.03 and you can already get a feel for where they are trying to move with regard to certain (Higher priced) ships.

You can also tell that CIG place more value on the cost of a ship than the skill required to use it. Initially the Superhornet has a pledge tag of $165 and the Xi'an Scout had a pledge tag of $150. With a mere $15 being the difference between the two you can bet that they will still go out of their way to make the Xi'an inferior at a level greater than a mere $15.

Yes it is a very cool looking ship, so far that's two ships of CIG's that I like.

What was your first favorite ship?

What was your first favorite ship?

The Reclaimer.

Too many of CIG's ships are just air plains in space, with extra bits added in order to get blown off. Or badly designed ships with fake aerodynamics as an excuse for poor design (Mustang with an air break, lol). They just lacked imagination, and artistic style, very bland ships, that do not look like they belong in space.

The Reclaimer and now the Orion look like real ships, designed to do a job. Although I could do with out rotating (arms) on the Orion, we already know all the ships have gravity so that part is pointless, but still very cool looking.

Edit:

Nice little comment from CIG.

Unladen. The Orion’s mass will significantly increase when carrying ore. Additionally, please note that mass data for large ships are currently inaccurate in comparison to smaller craft. The Orion’s mass represents our first attempt at a more scientific method for determining mass which will be applied to all large spacecrafts upon review by the design team.

So looks like they are going to fix some of the ships being made out of Styrofoam.

edit:

Interesting that this sale is for 2 weeks, not the one week that CIG had set up as the length for concept sales.

I'm hoping to be able to remove that blasted claw off the Reclaimer and convert the ship into an armored troop transport. Drop down and deploy tanks, APCs and troops. Even if it means I have to break the thing off myself. :)

LOL for Styrofoam comment. That was pricesless. They need to put real mass on almost everything that goes on the ships.

Looking at the detail on it, I bet it took a good while to put that together. Just from a modelling point of view, it is impressive. Looking forward now to seeing some larger capital ships.

I like exactly the same two ships you like... and I dislike all the rest.

CIG does have some talented modelers.
They need to work on their gameplay though.
We're still so far away from any of these models leaving any sort of gameplay impressions on us.

With a few exceptions I generally like most of the ship designs, but the Orion and the Reclaimer are definitely 2 of the most interesting looking ones.

About mining: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14522-Star-Citizen-Careers-Mining
I like that there are many layers in the process. I'm more interested in the information handling part of it but for those who look forward to mining some space rocks (I know, they're not rocks, they are minerals!) it might end up being a decent and not mind-numbingly-boring occupation.

We can safely say that this occupation won't be boring but thrilling drilling. :)
Maybe people will realize that mining in some other games is shallow and dull in comparison, who knows.

The rotating cargo holds threw me off at first. The video is a bit misleading. They rotate to offload cargo while the ship is docked.

Yeah most things in SC sound great on paper... let's just see how they are implemented though first.

Dogfighting and flying around sounded great, but both are not fun at all for me in the way they are implemented in AC.

Well if you completely dislike the flight system now, it's safe to assume you won't like it in the final game either. It might go through many more iterations but I doubt it's going to change completely.

So here is a funny for you. It has become no surprise that the majority of people signing up for Star Citizen are players and not pilots. Someone suggested that they create an area for Arena Commander that caters to pilots looking to prove themselves in combat. The third response to the post hammers the idea. Here is the thread. ---> https://forums.robertsspaceindustri...eal-steel-combat-challenge-for-area-commander

What kills me about the whole thing is the guy is asking for a section of Arena Commander where the pilots run with no shields and non-gimbal size 1 guns to prove their skill in combat. So far support for the idea has fallen on deaf ears and as stated someone has already displayed their lack of courage and capability. That is just sad. One of the things I have always liked about E.D. is that it never seemed easy and you control your ship. Seeing Star Citizen's people proudly go on about their positions on the leaderboards but not support the idea of a skill area of Arena Commander raises a flag for me. If the majority of the people are afraid of manning up and proving their skill in more difficult combat it tells me that the combat side is going to be watered down to cater to the masses.
