Homeworld 2 redone!

Anyone else excited about this release? I prepaid on STEAM and can't wait. They have completely redone all of the texturing and effects!

They even re-mastered the soundtrack. Which was a good one (if a bit unusual)

Probably the best RTS series ever made. Especially Cataclysm, which had the best gameplay out of the 3 IMO (But isn't being re-mastered because they lost the source code, oops

)

You guys might also want to check out a game called Void Destroyer if you haven't already. The dev sent me a beta code but I couldn't really get into the game (RTS really not my style though the game can be played at RTS or combat). It's been pretty well received on Steam and is cheap though.

Ive been looking longingly at Homeworld, but I played Sins and Galactic civs and didnt really like them.

Homeworld does look nice tho...

Homeworld is nothing like Sins

I don't think there is anything like it really. Theres no micro-management or empire building, it's all about fleet tactics.

when you can't make a better game because the original is so downright good simply re-master it. I can't wait to do Homeworld all over again! it's still my favourite space RTS even as punishing as it was.

I had a go of this last night. The game itself is pretty nice, they've brought back to 1 all the usability improvements that 2 had in its sensor manager, which is what stopped me ever progressing very far in the original. Trying to refresh my memory of the controls was unpleasant though, they've got a scripting bug in the tutorials that makes it say "press OK to continue" and then immediately continue with the button still flashing onscreen.

Do you think it would be better to play HW1 before HW2 ?

I did take a quick look at HW2 last night and played the tutorial for a little bit but then logged off as I was too tired.
