Known bug? "Docking request denied" at outpost, but noone is around!

Lately I am often getting a "docking request denied" at an allied outpost when I request docking in my T6. They have a medium landing pad that I have used numerous times before, I am actually hovering near it to see if some other commander is using it, but no, noone is around. Not even a NPC, I am the only ship, nothing besides the outpost in my contact list or on the radar. And I still keep getting "docking request denied". I am waiting for minutes to see if someone is coming out of the hangar, but nothing, no lights are on, the landing pad is definitely not used by anyone, so it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the infamous situation where a commander keeps sitting at the pad and blocking any other ship from using it.

So, is what I am describing a known bug? This happens in solo and in open (hence my opinion that it doesn't have anything to do with pad blocking players)

ive had this occasionally but after waiting a few minutes a ship will undock, seems they can have ships in the hanger even in solo

Enty

When this happened to me, I saved and exited to the main menu.

After logging back in, it let me dock.

Edit: there are other threads about this, that include being put into a different instance when re-logging and whatnot, but restarting the client always seemed to work...

Is it possible that there's a hangered ship under the pad and that's the reason you can't dock or would that still appear on your scanner?

I noticed exactly the same. I found that after a few minutes a NPC Python undocked, and I was able to dock. Seems NPCs can still block the pads too.

It's normal. A NPC ship is docked inside, you have to wait or go back to main menu and log in again. Sometimes after a ship flies away the landing is a bit buggy, because the landing target don't show up.

This is exactly the reason. The outpost is not big enough to store multiple ships beneath the medium pad, so if a ship sits on the pad, or enters, no-one else can use that pad until the ship leaves. It is a courtesy to be as quick as you can be when landing, to avoid irritating fellow traders.

In open I can understand that some lazy commander in the hangar could be the reason the landing pad is docked, but in solo their are no other players and NPCs are supposed to make room as soon as a player requests docking.

Their was a corresponding bugfix back in Beta 3.9. Took me a while to find it, but here it is:

- If a player is refused docking permission because a station/outpost is full, ask a docked AI ship to leave promptly. If an AI ship is already in the process of doing this, don't force any more to leave

The important part is "promptly". This worked until recently. If I was denied docking in solo, I always saw a NPC leaving within 30 seconds and was granted docking immediately afterwards. But like I wrote, now I don't get docking permission in solo even after spamming requests for more than 5 minutes.

<snip>

The only severe bug I've ever noted (extremely rare) when approaching Outposts or Stations :
- you enter the Instance and your Docking Requests are permanently denied, even on Stations
- there are absolutely no NPCs anywhere and they don't spawn
- the Station/Outpost is basically InOp

That bug required to quit to Menu and log back in to solve it.

<snip>

I think that's exactly what I tried to describe. And what shouldn't be happening anymore according to this:

- If a player is refused docking permission because a station/outpost is full, ask a docked AI ship to leave promptly. If an AI ship is already in the process of doing this, don't force any more to leave

It didn't happen to me since beta 3.9 was released, but recently the bug resurfaced.

Therefore I just ticketed it (again).
