Sorry for all the posts but finally figured out where I was going wrong...

I don't know if it's a windows 7 thing but the forcedev folder in appdata does not work - i needed to install sweetfx into the forcedev folder inside the x86 frontier folder. :)

Cool, glad you got it, let us know how it goes

I copied the folder where you suggested and made the changes in nVidia control panel, it's not crashing but I don't notice much difference, will have an extended play tonight. Could you post some before/after screenshots to show us the difference between normal and sweetfx?

Page up key is to enable/disable sweetfx

If you dont see differences then something might not work correctly as there are deep variations of color and sharpeness
Ill try to tune the settings to lessen the overbright textures when they are facing the sun

It's really night and day if you turn it ON or OFF using the PageUP key (you may like it or not, this is another concern). If you don't see any difference hitting this key something is definitively wrong with installation. I'll try to do some screenshot.

Same here as I posted before:

MSI970 and i5 2500k - from AA: SMAA and no sweetfx to AA: OFF and sweetfx ON --> No difference.

(I followed instructions from OP. Downloaded sweetfx, replaced parametres and installed in frontier folder (x86), where elitedangerous32 is)

try the page up key to enable/disable sweetfx in game, you should see some differences if sweetfx is runing. If you dont then there is a problem with the installation. What is your OS?
(Try looking for Frontier_Developments in your Appdata folder it can be hidden by prameters)

Did you do this setting?
Nvidia panel for the rift:
brightness: 37%
contrast: 0%
digital vibrance: 65%
Yes. Tried with it set like this, and back to default.

The files do NOT go into the path he listed in the OP. They get extracted to whatever folder your elitedangerous32.exe file is located. (usually burried in your programfiles(x86) folder)

Updated OP with corrections for install path on some OS and with new settings:
one with only added sharpness
one with sharpness and slight color correction (less red more green and blue) in order to have more pixel density for image quality (Rift got more green and blue pixel than red), this one should be better as there is no exposure/oversaturation in it.

Thanks for all the feedbacks, keep going and share your settings :)

Yes, i tried several times with the page up key to enable/disable sweetfx, but i didn´t feel almost any difference. My OS is win7 64bit
I also searched in appdata (in hidden folder), but my elitedangerous32.exe is in the x86 frontier folder

My question is, if I had AA=MSAA, maybe sweetfx (with AA=OFF) just equal the AA=MSAA, right?

Sweetfx does SMAA but the settings used should really be visible when using the page up key. You should see some big color changes, sharpness on textures, fine details, the Antialiasing is not the obvious thing to notice and due to the sharpening some may fond it less good with these sweetFX settings.

Try run your game with admin rights and see if it helps, make sure the game is in strict full screen mode too

Could you check your gamma slider in ED graphic options? Mine is set in the middle (default)
As for the path it can change (midified the op for this) but i got 2 different computers and ED is in the appdata folder.

I tried it with the gamma slider on a few different places. Right in the middle, everything was totally blown out... dropped it down to 1/3rd... which was better, but then you lose all the detail in the darker areas. I put everything back to the way it was and deleted the sweetfx files, and it looks 10x better. My only issue with my DK2, is framerate. keeping a solid jitter free experience isn't easy. Running a single 970, I can run Medium settings with AA On, and everything plays great. On high settings, I get too much jitter inside stations for it to be worth it. Dr. Kaii reports that on his single 970, he can run jitter free on Ultra settings. I can't even come close, no idea why. (unless our definitions of "jitter free" are different).

Not sure if this helps anyone (but me) but I found two forcedev folders containing EliteDangerous.32
One in x86 and one in appdata... It was the one in x86 that worked.

I think jitters are specific to people. Some will notice some and some wont notice anything at all. Playing in solo mode helps a lot as some people said that in open mode where there are many players fps goes down.

Thanks for your feedback, updating op.

SweetFX fix for Windows 8.1 64bit Nvidia GPU card users.
OK, I ran out of time this morning to fully test this as I had to run out the door for work :( but I think I got it working. Can someone please test fully and let the group know if it works?

try this
- remove old SweetFX files that you installed into C:\Users\[your user name]\Appdata\local\Frontier_developments\products\FORCE-FDEV-D-xxxx\
- download this file: https://mega.co.nz/#!QVUCXA4a!v3UE8WZJDLUgh8RJJDATXQV1Ba1s6cNQZ_oPmK5E7C8
Note: this SweetFX is slightly modified
- as per instructions from post1 this post, extract all the files into files into your ED folder:
- C:\Users\[your user name]\Appdata\local\Frontier_developments\products\FORCE-FDEV-D-xxxx\
- replace the SweetFX_settings file with the one from post1 in this post, or make your own (edit away)
- you may need to turn off all OSD (like, MSI Afterburn, FRAPS, EVGA Precision, or all kinds like that) as these may crash the injector

fly well, fly safe :)

OP good work, looks amazing ;)
